Couples Cruise Vs. Vanilla Cruise

Well, I’ve had the pleasure of being aboard the last 2 Couples Cruises aboard the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas. I was also recently aboard a vanilla cruise…yes, we did a family cruise with the ! Our vanilla cruise was onboard the Carnival Freedom. I’m in no way going to attempt to compare Royal Caribbean and Carnival. However, I have been on 2 distinctly different Freedom Cruises! I can honestly say there is a vast difference between a couples cruise and a vanilla cruise.

I’ve heard it said that once you do a Couples Cruise you will never want to do a Vanilla Cruise again. Don’t get me wrong, I truly enjoyed my family cruise. I loved spending time with the teens and the incredible ports we had the pleasure of visiting. However, there really is no comparison and I did find myself missing the excitement of a Couples Cruise. There were nights when hubby and I were alone that I’d look at him and mention how I missed the atmosphere of the piano bar on the Freedom of the Seas. We walked into the piano bar on board the Carnival Freedom and it was just not a happening place.

We would walk the pool deck and miss seeing so many naked bodies. I found myself missing just the plain ambiance of the Couples Cruises, not to mention the entertainment and parties. We went to some of the game shows and productions offered on the ship and found them lacking over a Couples Cruise. We even missed the Couples exclusive excursions. In short, we got off the Carnival Freedom and immediately started a countdown to our next Couples Cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas in November. We are at 147 days and counting down! I can’t wait. I’m so excited to board the ship! I am so ready to reconnect with old friends from previous cruises as well as the opportunity to make new friends!

Who’s with me? Are you all as excited as I am? Independence of the Seas here we come! independenceoftheseas2014.com

Photography and the Lifestyle

The lifestyle has become much trendier in the past few years and there are many online sites where you can look for a compatible couple or single for that special experience. Each couple needs to discuss how open they want to be about the lifestyle and whether they want to have face pictures on their profile on the various lifestyle sites out there. Truly, this is as individual as each couple! Only you, as a couple, can determine how open you want your profile to be. Then you need to choose the right lifestyle site for you. Some sites offer the ability to make your profile private or possibly only able to be seen by paid members, as well as the ability to make some photos private or available only by request.

There’s no right or wrong in whether you choose to make face pictures public or not, it has to be a decision that you make based on your preferences. While there are no true guidelines for your profiles, there are guidelines for taking pics in clubs, at parties or at any advertised lifestyle event. Most of this is common sense, but it’s never a bad thing to put it in black and white. It is never OK to take photos of your lovely lady at a club or lifestyle event with other lifestylers in the background! In fact, most clubs expressly forbid even cell phones from being used within their walls. It’s also not OK to take pics of yourselves playing with another couple without their consent. There are also times when another couple is ok allowing photos to be taken during playtime, but they may not be OK with you posting that pic on a lifestyle site. In short, always ask permission prior to posting any pic with others in it.

Now, getting to the nitty gritty of taking sexy pics! We all love those pics and there is a knack to taking the right pic. Some of us are better at it than others! You need the right outfits, makeup, lighting and props…a lot goes into those great photos! You may need to take 100 photos to get that handful of really great ones. There are quite a few boudoir photographers out there that can help you out if you are camera challenged. But, you’re in the lifestyle! If you see great photos on someone’s profile and they don’t live far from you, send them a message and ask who took their pics. They’ll appreciate your enjoyment of their photos and may be able to put you in contact with the photographer, or the talented hubby that took the pics.

I guess I’m fortunate, as my hubby is quite good at photography. On the November 2013 Couples Cruise, we decided to go around the ship and take some sexy photos. We went around some more public areas of the ship taking photos, then decided to wander outside for some pics. We ended up on the helipad and got a few really good pics. However, it was extremely windy that morning and we laughed trying to get good photos without my hair in my face or my sarong blowing up over my head. After about 5 minutes on the helipad, security showed up. We were afraid we may have broken some rule about the helipad, but they assured us we could take the photos without a problem ; however, it was too windy to be on the helipad and they were closing it off. This of course made for interesting dinner conversation!

I hope you enjoy taking those sexy photos, posting them however you see fit on your profiles and sharing them with those couples you like.

Every Cruise has a Mardi Gras

Love Mardi Gras? Awesome, there’s one on every cruise!

If you love Mardi Gras parties, well look no further! There’s one aboard every Couples Cruise. If you’ve ever been on a Couples Cruise before, then you already know how fun these parties are! If this is your first time on one, well, you have one hell of a party to look forward to! Pack your favorite Mardi Gras outfit! Don your green, purple and gold. Wear a stunning mask, a slinky outfit and crazy beads! Be prepared to party till the wee hours of the morn!

On board the ship, the party usually starts late in the evening with a parade on the promenade. Just in case you may have forgotten to pack something, the promenade shops tend to sell Mardi Gras themed trinkets the day of the party. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Mardi Gras all aboard the ship! There’s nothing quite like a Couples Cruise Mardi Gras party complete with sexy clothing, great music, dancing and guys (and girls) offering beads for a peek! Don’t be shy – make a friend or two on the promenade, hang out with other couples that you’ve met on board the cruise, let loose and have a blast! The atmosphere is amazing and the party is top notch phenomenal!

Honestly, the party doesn’t stop with just Mardi Gras! All the theme night parties are incredible. Here’s the official line up of the theme parties on board the May Mexican Riviera Cruise:

Day 1 – Casual Night/ 80’s Dance Party Wear your casual Hawaiian shirts or dress for dinner, the follow up that night with a 80’s Party where you can wear your hair big and have fun!

Day 2 – Dress Up/Dress Down Formal night for dinner, followed by a sexy lingerie/pajama party! Dress in your elegant formal wear for dinner, then your sexiest lingerie for the evening!

Day 3 – Back to School Party Wear whatever school theme suits you – school girl, nerds, jocks, band geek!

Day 4 – Mardi Gras Party The more beads the merrier, wear your green, purple and gold

Day 5 – Glitz and Glimmer Party Wear all things that shine…gold, silver, metallic, sequins galore!

Day 6 – Fetish Night Leather, lace, whips, chains and all the kinky stuff in between! Be as kinky as you dare, wear that leather outfit that you look so sexy in! You don’t have to be into BDSM to enjoy this night!

Day 7 – White Night Be creative, wear anything white for this night!

There’s always that question of whether to dress up for every single theme night. That’s completely your choice. Do them all or only a few. Pick the ones that you enjoy, make them fun, live a little! You will have fun whether you dress in theme or not! Have a phenomenal cruise!!!

Mardi Gras is my favorite theme night! I know we all have favorites…what’s yours? I’d love to see people comment on the blog regarding your favorite theme and why!

The Trials and Tribulations of the Lifestyle

So, are you new to this lifestyle, maybe been away from it for a while or even changing the way you play in the lifestyle? Wherever you fall in the lifestyle, there will always be trials and tribulations; it really doesn't matter how new or seasoned you are to this. The lifestyle is by no means for the faint of heart. Swinging is not a way to “fix” a marriage that’s falling apart or really for any relationship that isn't on solid footing. Those of us that have been in the lifestyle for a while can easily relate to having come across the wrong couple at some point.

Trust me when I say this, you have to have an incredibly wonderful relationship and superb sex life to be able to survive swinging! Those couples and people that don’t know what swinging is all about think that all we are out to do is have sex with other people or that we are bored with our sex lives. Those of us that are in the lifestyle for the right reasons will understand the real reasons why you venture into the lifestyle. Yes, swinging can spice up your sex life, allow you to explore a different side of your relationship, let you live out sexual fantasies and let you be that “naughty girl” or “playboy”. But in the bigger scheme, it also…believe it or not…brings couples closer together! It makes you leave your jealousies at the door or at least keep them in check, allows you to see your lover in a different light, opens up communication within your relationship and creates a stronger foundation for that relationship. It also allows you to form incredible friendships with other like minded couples.

And, if you are in this lifestyle long enough, you will have a bad experience or two. You will come across that couple that makes you question what the hell you are doing, makes you think that you’re doing the wrong thing. But, these pitfalls are truly what make you reflect on your relationship as a couple, communicate what you like and don’t like, explore your insecurities…and in the end, come out stronger for having had a bad experience. I’ll be honest, my hubby and I have been in this lifestyle for 15 years and we've had a couple bad experiences, but overall, the good truly outweighs the bad!

Just like in life, there will be those couples that walk in and out of your life and those that stay. We have made some amazing friendships within this lifestyle. It really is incredible when you have a close relationship with a couple and truly enjoy seeing your lover enjoying sex with them…and you can honestly call them friends! Someone once told me that “swingers are the kind of people that you can hand your house key to when you go on vacation and you’ll come home to a house that’s cleaner than you left it.” Truly, that’s probably correct! You can’t meet a more outgoing, secure, fun loving group of people anywhere else.

Contemplating going on a lifestyle vacation or cruise? Good for you! I’ve not personally been to any of the resorts, but I can speak from experience about the Couples Cruises. They truly are incredible and you can’t make a bad choice picking one! Whether new to the lifestyle or a seasoned veteran, a week away on a ship with your lover and several hundred other like minded couples will bring closer in ways that are indescribable. Communication is key!

You will quickly learn that there are literally hundreds of other couples and if you want to make a “connection” you both need to be on the same page! Talk freely about everything you see…there’s a lot of eye openers! Walk through the group room, enjoy the disco, get your swing on at the pool party! Attend a seminar, enjoy couples massage, get tied up in the bondage room or savor some chocolate (those of you on the Freedom 2013 will get this)! You’ll open up to each other as you explore the ship, your relationship and everything that Couples Cruise has to offer! learn more at shiptakeovers.com

Back from an Awesome Cruise? What Now?

So, you’ve just gotten home from an incredible Couples Cruise? You had an incredible vacation, but now it’s back to reality. I know…reality sucks! At least sometimes…those cruises are awesome, the time away with your spouse or lover is wonderful, the ship was incredible, the excursions phenomenal, the sights breathtaking and the fun on the ship heart stopping! But now, the let down…back to work, back to everyday life, back to the daily grind and the normal rhythm that is your life. But I bet you’re in some small way wishing you could still be on the ship or dreaming of your next cruise. Why wish and dream? You loved the cruise! Look up the upcoming cruises and get ready to set sail again! Why not? You only live once after all! There are 2 more cruises this year – The Mexican Riviera in May and the Roatan Charter in November. Sometimes it’s more easily said than done…we all can’t live for vacations!

But, there are things you can do, even if you aren’t planning to book another cruise just yet. Keep in touch with all those great couples you met on board the ship. I’m sure you have a stack of couples cards…friend them on SLS, email them, keep in touch! Maybe you met a few couples that in reality aren’t too far away from you. Plan on meeting up at a club that’s half way in between, or maybe plan a weekend getaway with that great couple from the cruise! Whatever you decide, you can’t go wrong! The lifestyle is meant to be fun and social!

The other thing that you need to do is keep the communication lines open with your spouse or lover. Talk about everything you enjoyed or didn’t enjoy on the ship. Discuss it all and be honest about it. Let your lover know if there’s something you wish you’d tried, or something that maybe you regret having done. What would you have done differently? What would you do again? Your relationship with your lover can’t grow without being up front and honest with each other. It may be something small that you didn’t like, or you wish you’d tried…discuss it with your lover. Maybe you didn’t like the group room or you wish you’d had the nerve to go into the bondage room, maybe you wanted to spend more time lying naked on the pool deck - whatever it is…talk about it! Your relationship with your lover will be better for it! Trust me on this!

I trust you had an incredible time on the ship and I hope to see you on the Independence in November! As always, if there’s something you’d like to see on the blog, a topic you’re curious about, let me know. Stay tuned for my next blog! and book your next lifestyletrip

So, you’re ready to cruise and have everything in order! Now, what to do on the ship? Honestly - have fun, kick back, do things you enjoy, be playful, be flirtatious, but most importantly RELAX! Be prepared for the best f’ing vacation you’ve ever been on! Truthfully, there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t like on either of the 2 Freedom cruises we’ve been on! Everything was absolutely incredible! I’m not kidding…there’s not much that I could even dream of changing!

By now, you’ve hopefully figured out what you’re wearing for the formal night. If not, no worries…enjoy the buffet! You will find many couples that skip the main dining room in favor of the buffet for dinners…to each their own. The main dining room has an incredible wait staff, excellent food, fantastic deserts and a great ambiance…but, there is a downside! Be prepared to spend roughly two hours on dinner…yes, 2 whole hours by the time you are seated, served your appetizer, ordered and served dinner, had a glass of wine and finally eaten your scrumptious dessert. It is a big block of time that some couples decide isn’t really important. Don’t get me wrong, hubby and I only go to the main dining room about 75% of the nights. The buffet generally has some of the same appetizers, entrees and desserts being served and you can cut your time down to about a half hour. Whichever choice you make, you can’t go wrong. The food is phenomenal and the wait staff throughout the ship is great!

Night Life??? Oh yes, it’s great! No one…and I mean no one…puts on a better party than Couples Cruise does. The parties on board the ship are kick ass! They are lively, energetic, truly a sight to see! My favorite party so far was the pool party on the Freedom 2013! You seriously don’t want to miss these parties! After all, what’s better than 1500 scantily clad people bumping and grinding to dance music?

Remember to check your cruise compass to see what’s going on throughout the day on board the ship. There are all kinds of seminars, activities, meet and greets and couples activities going on every day from sun up to the wee hours of the morning! I’ve included a picture of a daily activity list that I saved from our recent cruise. It will give you an idea of what is out there to enjoy. Ever wondered what a sybian would be like, wanted to get involved in couples massage or maybe you’d like to learn how to squirt! Seriously, there’s a class for that! Granted, these classes aren’t for everyone, but there is something for everyone…find what’s right for you!

And, not to be outdone…the entertainment on board these ships are phenomenal! Couples Cruise brings on board some of the very best lifestyle friendly acts, from comedians, singers, performers to musicians that you could ever want! Also, the cruise line itself has some incredible broadway style shows! The dilemma usually comes when you try to narrow down what you want to do for the afternoon or evening...there are so many options!

I’ve managed to get a list of entertainment that will be offered on board the upcoming Brilliance Cruise! You can be up front for the Centrum Theater show Fantasy: The Naughtiest Show at Sea! Or get turned on watching Trixie Minx and her Burlesque show! Or, maybe laughing along with the crowd watching Eric Lyden’s act is more your style! Don’t miss out on John Sackett…he’s a phenomenal piano player and sure to crack you up with his witty jokes…don’t get caught not singing and playing along and be called out on a two titty foul ladies! (Go to the show, you’ll see what I’m talking about here)! There’s also another piano player on board, Jeremie Malotke, that will keep you entertained at the piano bar. Also, be sure to enjoy the hypnosis and game shows of Mark Maze. And finally, the Farewell show by Jason Mejias, entertaining you with acrobatic stunts and aerial beauty. Whatever your style, Couples Cruise has captured something for you to enjoy!

One thing not to forget doing on the ship….taking those oh so naughty pictures! If you want to do some on the ship…obviously in places that nudity is allowed and other people aren’t around...go for it! Just make sure to do them early in the day before the common areas of the ship are crowded! Hubby and I took a few…on a very windy day…and got thrown off the helipad by security…but that’s a story for another blog!

Ah, last, but certainly not least…the Theme Nights! You certainly don’t have to do all of them, most couples don’t! But pick a couple, select the perfect outfits for both of you and enjoy the party on the ship! You won’t be disappointed! Although, you might just be enlightened! Not many prudes on board this ship!

Here are some last minute things to remember before your cruise. I mentioned getting couples cards made in my last post. If you haven’t seen these before, they are really a cool way to introduce yourselves and give the other couple something to remember you by…as well as a way to keep track of everyone they meet. By the end of the cruise, you’ll have amassed a small stack of these things handed to you by other couples. I’ve added a picture of the card that hubby and I made for the Freedom 2013 cruise so you have an idea of what they look like. You can get pretty creative with these things too. Some people don’t want to put themselves out there and add their face pics to them; and to each their own. The one that I’ve included here is the one we used, although this one is slightly altered with our face picture removed (it had been in the top corner of the card). I don’t mind having my face on it when we hand them out to other couples, but it’s a little different when you’re posting things openly on the internet, if you get what I mean. As I mentioned, it’s a good idea to leave a blank spot to write in your room number so that you can use these again at hotel parties, clubs or your next Couples Cruise. If you’re handy with Microsoft Publisher, you should be able to come up with a pretty neat card design all on your own. Although, there are some templates to be found that do the trick as well. The cards run about $10-15 for around 250 on Vista Print. Look around for coupon codes to save yourself a few bucks.

Get yourself a small binder or folder! Put everything important in here. Keep all your cruise documents, excursion paperwork, copies of your driver’s license and passport (just in case), pre/post cruise plans for hotel, prepaid parking receipt, airline tickets and pretty much anything else important that you might need for your trip. Keep this folder handy. I always put mine in the front pocket of my carryon luggage. That way, it’s always with me and easy to access.

In your carryon make sure you put a few essentials. If you’re boarding the ship early, pack a swimsuit, sun block, sunglasses, etc. so you can enjoy the pool deck until your room is ready. Pack your meds, glasses, camera, electronics and valuable in your carry on as well. Also, you are allowed to take on a bottle of wine per person and this has to be packed in your carryon. If you do take wine, remember to also pack a small corkscrew, otherwise, you will be forced to beg a bartender or pay a $20 uncorking fee at the dining hall. I also take a wine topper in case the cork gets destroyed from the cheap corkscrew that you packed. The room porters are great and will keep your wine chilled in the room for you.

Like I mentioned previously, pack less than you think you will need…trust me on this! Ladies, honestly, are you going to the gym on the ship? It’s a great gym and all, but if you are truly not going to go into it, don’t pack the tennis shoes! You only need flip flops and F**k Me shoes! The debate about how dressy is the elegant night? Truly, it’s totally up to each couple! You will find some who hate getting dressed up and skip it in favor of the buffet. Others wear long gowns and tuxes, but most fall in the middle with a cocktail dress and a suit.

Look around the Royal Caribbean website. There are drink packages and excursions that you can purchase ahead of time. The all inclusive alcohol package is great if you enjoy your alcohol. It includes pretty much all the alcohol you can drink, frozen drinks, shots, mixed drinks, wine as well as soda at the bar, juices and water. Remember to log into your account online so that all the great Couples Cruise excursions show up for you. There are offerings for nude beaches, adult resorts and a myriad of other excursions that are tailored just for Couples Cruises. The special excursions are always worth it! There are some excursions that fill up early or have limited spots, like scuba diving and the Harley tours. Make sure to book early to get in on the best excursions.

Most importantly, Relax! Kick up your feet, soak up the sun, have lots of naked fun and enjoy your Couples Cruise!

New to cruising, new to a Couples Cruise, or been there done that? Either way, there are always new or better ideas that you can learn from others. I’ll start by telling you a little about me. Hubby and I have been in the lifestyle for over 15 years, we thought we’d “been there, done that!” But, we’d never been on a single lifestyle vacation until the Freedom 2012! Let me just say, it was an eye opener. We absolutely loved every second on the ship! There was so much that we didn’t know though. So many things we wish we’d known before getting on the ship! I’m hoping to fill you in on the little secrets of a Couples Cruise! First, and most importantly, relax and have fun!

If you’ve never cruised before, a few quick tips – pack less than you think you need! Board early, enjoy lunch on the ship. You can usually board around 11am, although you can’t get into your room till at least 1pm. Pack a carry on with sun block, sunglasses and a swimsuit, no nudity allowed till you pull out of port! Once you’re on board, quit worrying about your luggage! It will make it to your room, but maybe not till 6pm or so, although usually it shows up around 2pm. Go pick a spot on the pool deck, order a drink and soak up some sun while you enjoy the start of an awesome vacation! Don’t forget to smile and talk to people. Everyone on a Couples Cruise is friendly! You will never meet a better bunch of ice breakers!

If you’ve cruised before, you’re ahead of the curve! However, if you’ve not been on a Couples Cruise, you have some learning to do! It will be the best F’ing vacation you’ve ever been on and a “Vanilla Cruise” will never be the same again! You will be forever changed and comparing the fun on any cruise to the fun to be had on a Couples Cruise! No matter, how long you’ve been in the lifestyle, you may even be overwhelmed! I know hubby and I were! Not in the lifestyle? That’s OK too. In fact, it makes a Couples Cruise great when you see the incredible variety of people all over the ship. There are lots of lifestyle couples, both new to it and those that have “been there, done that.” There are also lots of couples that are voyeurs, nudists, thinking about it and amazingly enough those that booked the cruise because it is adults only and no !

Been on a Couples Cruise before? That’s awesome! You know your way around these things! You’ve done this once or twice…or more! Meeting up with old friends? Contact them before you get on the ship! Make plans to meet on the pool deck at noon, or in the dining hall for lunch! Trust me, there’s no time better to connect with old friends! But, remember there are so many other couples on this ship to meet – don’t be afraid to make new friends!

Before you get on the ship, there are a few need to know tips that will just make things easier.

* Driving to the port? Remember, there are cheaper places to park off site. Look on the internet and pay for parking ahead of time. Just make sure the lot is secure and they provide transportation to the port. Remember to have several small bills in your wallet! Tip your porters! And, if you want your luggage to your room quicker, tip your room porter in the hall outside your room! For $10 or $20 bucks, they will gladly go down and find every single bag you brought with you!

* Get couples cards made! These are like a business card for couples. You can put as much or as little info on it as you want, but they are great to pass out to people you’d like to meet up with on the ship! Vistaprint is a great site to get them made. Pick a photo of both of you, put your screen name on it, add your email address, even your names! A quick tip, don’t have your actual room number printed on it; instead, write it in yourself. Remember, you order like 250 of these things for $15, you can use them elsewhere (hotel parties, clubs, other lifestyle vacations).

* Take things to decorate your door! Be creative! There are great peelable white boards out there that come in rolls – make great places for people to leave messages! Take dry erase markers to put with it if you do this though. The doors are not magnetic, but the door frames are! I’ve even seen people take battery operated lights to hang on their door. Take tape, small scissors, magnets, etc.

* If you’re a swinger, you’ll want to take sex wipes, condoms and a small zipper pouch to keep essentials in while walking around the ship. You don’t want anything too big, you do have to carry this stuff around and who wants to be burdened with a huge bag? Oh, men---you can’t go fully dressed into the play room, so remember to bring great boxers (they can be a great conversation starter), pajama bottoms or a robe!

So, you’ve learned a few things to expect when you get on the ship…now, you need to know tips to make your time on the ship a little better! Remember, I said relax and have fun and you might be overwhelmed! These ships are huge; there are a lot of couples on these ships. If you see a couple you’d like to connect with, get a room number or exchange cards…you may never see them again! You can also call their room, for free room to room, and leave a message. My motto is “don’t be shy, say hi!” Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! You won’t regret it!

The best places to hang out and have fun are the bars! They are all over the ship and there’s entertainment everywhere! Check out your cruise compass to keep up to date on where different things are happening! The piano bar is great – my personal favorite! But all of the bars are incredible and full of fun and parties! Also, keep an eye out for the on board parties…the pool party was phenomenal! You’ll never find a better party than one on board a Couples Cruise! After all, what’s better than over a 1,000 scantily clad people dancing, grinding and flirting to great music?

If you’ve never been in a group room, or even if you have, they can be a bit overwhelming. Don’t let it intimidate you. Even if group rooms aren’t your cup of tea, walk through at least once while you’re on the ship! It is a site to see and never forget! And if you enjoy group rooms, you definitely won’t be disappointed!

Well, hope you’ve enjoyed my first blog! I hope to give you great information and insight. Have questions? Ask, I’ll blog about it. My next installment will be coming soon, keep watching! lifestyletrips
