My picks for the Conference Championship games were 0 of 2.

There were some bad calls during both games so my enthusiasm for this game is not-so-much. The Rams really should not be in this game, but that is clearly not by any fault of their own. So my dislike of the (cheating) patsies is going to continue.

Therefore, I will be rooting against the NO England pissies. Geaux Rams.

Enjoy the game you crazy sexed-up .

Just wondering if anyone here is having Gmail access problems. I haven't been able to get to it via the Google link since about 4 hours ago.

UPDATE: I had to give my computer a swift kick (a.k.a. reboot) in the "hard drive". We're good now.

NFL Picks – Conference Championship Games

Last week my picks were 2 of 4 . . . again

Overview:
Both games are repeats of regular season matchups – both games were effectively decided by 4th quarter field goals. Unlike many this Championship has come down the 1 and 2 teams in each conference. Both games will feature a young gun QB playing against a savvy veteran. And both stadiums are among the loudest in the league.

Road teams are 0-10 in conference title games in the last 5 . The last visiting teams to advance were the Ravens and 49ers in 2012.

NFC Championship – L A Rams (2nd seed, 13-3) at New Orleans (1st seed, 13-3):
3:05 p.m. ET, Fox
These teams played Nov. 4 and the Saints got a 35-14 lead in the first half. The Rams tied the game 35-35 in the 4th. The Saints hit a go-ahead field goal and then put the game away on a 72-yard TD pass from Drew Brees to Michael Thomas on 3rd down with less than 4 minutes to go.

Some regular season stats for you to crunch on:
Both QBs threw 32 Touchdown passes.
Completion percentage: Goff 64.9, Brees 74.4
Yards: Goff 4,688, Brees 3,992
Interceptions: Goff 12, Brees 5
QB Rating: Goff 101.1, Brees 115.7

Brees is a bigger threat in front of a home crowd; he had a 133.3 QB rating at the Superdome in the regular season.

Weather will not be a factor but, the Superdome is one of the loudest venues in the NFL. Coach Payton gave specific directions for the crowd; Make noise early in the play clock, to make it hard for the Rams to communicate plays in.

Prediction: Saints win
-----------------------------------

AFC Championship – New England (2nd seed, 11-5) at Kansas City (1st seed, 12-4):
6:40 p.m. ET CBS
These teams played Oct. 14 and the Patriots won 43-40 with a field goal as time expired. Patrick Mahomes had 352 yards and 4 touchdowns, 3 to Tyreek Hill. Tom Brady threw for 340 yards. The teams combined for 946 yards. I would expect the patsies to try to significantly pressure Mahomes.

A little history:
The last time Brady played at Arrowhead he was benched during a 41-14 loss in 2014. The Patriots also have a 3-11-1 record all-time in Kansas City.

The Pats have lost their last three AFC title games on the road dating back to the blown 21-3 lead against Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in 2006.

Today is the 17th anniversary of the infamous “Tuck Game”.

Game time conditions:
The turf at Arrowhead Stadium has been a problem for some teams, but I read that it had been replaced this week.

The Patriots and Chiefs both have explosive offenses, but the weather probably will not be conducive to a lot of points. In Kansas City sunset is at about 5:30 at that time the temperatures will start dropping into the mid/low 20's. It won’t get warmer as the game goes deeper into the night.

For two of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL, it’s not the best news. In the cold the ball is harder to catch – that is why a certain team deflated the game balls some ago.

Prediction: Chiefs win

Last week my picks were 2 of 4

Saturday
Indianapolis (6th seed, 10-6) at Kansas City (1st seed, 12-4):
4:35 p.m., NBC
The Colts look to be on an upward trend while the Chiefs may have leveled off some. With 2 very good QBs here the result could come down to the defenses – the Colts have an advantage there. But Maholmes has shown he can move, improvise and get rid of the ball quickly. Against the prevailing predictions Colts

Dallas (5th seed, 10-6) at LA Rams (2nd seed, 13-3):
8:15 p.m. ET, FOX
One story here is the top 2 RBs Elliot vs. Gurley but still may be hurting. The cowturds may be short at WR with a couple guys not practicing, but they do have Cooper. The Rams were 7-1 at home, but they’ll to get out to a lead early. Rams

Sunday
L. A. Chargers (5th seed, 12-4) at New England (2nd seed, 11-5):
1:05 p.m., CBS
The patsies have beaten the Chargers every time Rivers and Brady played, but things are quite different now. This game is in Foxboro the patsies were 8-0 at home, but the Chargers are now 8-1 on the road this season. This looks to be the closest game this week. Chargers

Philadelphia (6th seed, 9-7) at New Orleans (1st seed, 13-3):
4:40 p.m., Fox
These 2 teams played on November and the Eagles did not look good – like 48-7 not good. But the Saints haven’t looked great over the last 5 weeks. Then there is the Nick Foles “magic” deal – the Eagles’ seem play better when he is at QB. The hardest pick of the week Saints

Last week my picks turned out very good 9 of 10

L. A. Chargers (5th seed, 12-4) at Baltimore (4th seed, 10-6)
1:05 p.m., CBS
These teams are quite different but still evenly matched. 2 weeks ago the Ravens beat the Chargers 22-10 in L.A. This game is in Baltimore and the Chargers are 7-1 on the road.
Chargers

Philadelphia (6th seed, 9-7) at Chicago (3rd seed, 12-4)
4:40 p.m., NBC
2 teams that have won most of their last 2 months games. The story seems to be the “special” Nick Foles possibly playing hurt vs. the Bears D particularly Khalil Mack who could hurt him more. The cowturds advanced in part due to Amari Cooper – an ex-Raider.
da Bearz

Both games seem to be closely matched for various reasons and both games are in Texas

Indianapolis (6th seed, 10-6) at Houston (3rd seed, 11-5)
4:35 p.m. ET, ESPN
These 2 teams split their 2 games this season and in Houston the Colts won 24-21.
Colts

Seattle (5th seed, 10-6) at Dallas (5th seed, 10-6)
8:15 p.m. ET, FOX
Both teams have very mobile QBs and capable defenses. These 2 teams played in Seattle this season beating the Cowboys 24-13. Seattle has won six straight wild-card games.
Seattle

Last week my picks turned out very good 10 of 13

Biggest problem for me with picking during the last few weeks is will a bad team pull an upset over a team that is already in the playoffs and may be resting some players. A lot of this week’s games have that potential.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans: Texans at dome The Texans need this one to get a first round bye.
NY Jets at New England patsies: patsies the patsies need this one to get a first round bye.
LA Chargers at Denver Broncos: Chargers the Chargers need this one to get a first round bye.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins: Eagles A must win game for the Eagles to make the playoffs.
Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs: Chiefs at home The Chiefs need this one to get a first round bye.
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings: Vikings at home A must win game for the Vikings to make the playoffs
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers: Steelers at home A must win game for the Steelers to make the playoffs.
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens: Ravens at home A must win game for the Ravens to make the playoffs.
San Francisco 49ers at LA Rams: Rams at home The Rams need this one to get a first round bye.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans: Colts this game determines which one of these two go to the playoffs.

Last week my picks really sucked – 5 of 12

Saturday
Washington at Tennessee Titans: Titans at home
Baltimore Ravens at LA Chargers: Chargers at “home”

Sunday
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns: Browns in the Dawg pound – woof
Tampa Bay Bucs at Dallas cowturds: cowturds at dome, even though every time I pick them they lay down a steaming turd.
Minnesoooda Vikings at Detroit Lions: Vikings
NY Giants at Indianapolis Colts: Colts at dome
Jacksonville Jaguars at Miami Dolphins: Dolphins at home
Buffalo Bills at New England patsies: patsies at home
Josh Gordon out again.
Houston Texans at Philadelphia Eagles: Should be a close game. Eagles at home

Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals: Rams
Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers: Bears
Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints: Saints at dome

KC Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks: Should be a close game with 2 very similar QBs. Chiefs
Didn’t make it to the local sports bar yesterday so I’ll be there for this one tonight.

I have not made picks on games where both teams have no reasonable shot at the playoffs.

Last week my picks turned out pretty good – 10 of 16

This week I will pass on making picks on games where both teams have no reasonable shot at the playoffs.

Thursday
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs: Chiefs in a close game at home.

Saturday
Houston Texans at New York Jets: Texans
Cleveland Browns at Denver Broncos: Broncos at home

Sunday
Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears: These 2 met in the season opener and Khalil Mack ate them up. But an injured AR lead the Packers back to a 24-23 win. da Bearz at home

Tampa Bay Bucs at Baltimore Ravens: Ravens at home
Tennessee Titans at New York Giants: hard pick to make Giants
Miami Dolphins at Minnesota Vikings: Vikings at dome
Dallas cowturds at Indianapolis Colts: Cooper has really lit things up in Dallas and T Y Hilton may be out cowturds

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers: Seahawks
New England patsies at Pittsburgh Steelers: patsies
Both teams have not been playing up to their full potential and both lost games last week they should have won easily.

Philadelphia Eagles at LA Rams: Rams at home
With Wentz out the Eagles might be out of the playoffs.

Monday
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers: Saints
