you plan a surprise, make sure you don't plan too good.
Quite a few years ago I had planned to surprise a friend with a pair of earrings for Xmas so I hid them in a big jar of Quality Street chocolates. I carefully slit the wrapper, opened the jar, emptied out half of the candy, put the earrings box in the middle, refilled the jar, sealed it back up, wrapped it and gave it to her. ............ Didn't hear anything from her on Xmas day, talked to her that week and no mention of the earrings so figured she didn't like them = no biggie. Forward to June ...... was at her place and noticed the unopened Quality Street jar on her countertop in her kitchen. Apparently she had received a lot of choc that year and never opened it. Told her she "might want to" open it = Xmas in June, and she was surprised .......finally.

I agree 100% with not judging others to judge someone but at the same time, the lessons we learn better prepare us for the future. For example, I have received messages from single woman with one picture on their profile before, who live a long way from me, who give out their name in their message (a big no-no), and their sentence structure imply that English is not their first language. With all that, wouldn't you be careful too?
and then there was silence. Not that surprising though.
What would you have done?

me weird (I don't mind) but I love walking out into the cold and feeling my nose hair crinkle in the cold. It reminds me of home (yes it could get really cold there) and brings back great memories. I know the cold is not for most people but it is the little things that sometimes trigger fond and lasting memories. So what if one of mine is linked to brrrr cold weather.
