| Wandering Lifestyler - I am a tourist guide in Southern Africa which I enjoy immensely despite the challenges it delivers.
PS the pic is of me at Botswana's Makgadikgadi Pans - a place I have the privilege to visit on a regular basis |

hi all - Jasmine - I have checked and the comment thing is in the proper position! lol
Im back for a while - haven't backed up my Blackberry so piccies are older ones - this of me with a Caracal - or African Lynx last year - in the porky days - although having said that I have been gaining some again so its time to cut the carbs out of the diet - strangely enough thats easier to do on the road than at home!
Im home for a while (or a bit of ones on offer....) - May is a Skinny month - but thats OK - I went hunting at Karoocpl's farm for a few days - had a cool time and then on to my 25 year school reunion which was a blast to say the least - I got to spend time with my old school mate who now lives on Grand Cayman and we havent seen one another in years - so that was good to say the least.!
I ought to be blogging a bit this week as I have some time!
Have fun
Chris

Well, Im home for a few days - I finish this afternoon with my Austrian tour group - lovely people - a little stingy with the tips but nice people - makes a huge difference to how I enjoy a tour and what I can give people in terms of additional inputs and interesting things to taste see and do.
it is also deciduous fruit harvest season so I often hope off the coach and buy boxes of goodies for folks to taste along the route which everyone seems to enjoy!
Wouldnt it be nice if we could do a tour and taste different lifestylers along the way? Experience all the different flavours all along our routes?
Hee hee - thats just me and my sense of humour
Chris
PS this is an African Penguin - sphensiscus demersus - the only pengin specie endemic to Africa's shoreline - its range s from Swakopmund in Namibia (on the West Coast) to Port Elizabeth on the East coast of South Africa - inquisitive little buggers swim hundreds of Km to see their fellow Penguins and to feed - we recorded one swim (after an oil slick) of 800km in 11 days - that little penguin stands 30cm high only!!

Well, the Other pic I had taken yesterday was of me at the entrance to a cave in the Lime-stone quarry where many were made to work during their incarceration - notably suffering permanent damage to their eyes - Mandela's tear ducts and eyes for example were never to work properly again. to this day you may not use a flash to photograph him.
entrance to the quarry is prohibited - we got to go in and go to the cave.
Inside the cave during rainy days and lunch breaks - the inmates shared knowledge - and taught one another all manner of things - hence the name - the University of Robben Island.

Yesterday I had the rare privilege to be taken on a small private trip around Robben Island - and got to see stuff we never get to see anymore.
Robben Island was where the male, non-white political apartheid era prisoners (as well as normal convicts) were kept - Nelson Mandela was one of them - Robert Sobukwe was also one of them - Sobukwe was detained under a special Clause named after him - in a house in solitary for several years. his visited him a few times and the pic is of me in the bedroom where they slept.
the public arent normally allowed in to this part of the World Heritage site

well, my first tour of the year starts tonight in Johannesburg tonight (monday 14 Jan)
I am - I confess - looking forward to touring again after a month off - last year was a nice and busy one and I did well out of it - and look fwd to the same again this year!
so if I am very quiet - you know why - Work! having said that - I am going to get a laptop this year - I need to be able to do all my admin en route and with a schedule like mine - one tour often goes directly into the next so getting it all up to date all the time is what is important.
anyway - a windy warm day in Cape Town - a ffew last things to do before I leave.
I look fwd to messages etc
Ciao
Chris

the Photo is of a Pool I went for a swim in a little while ago - its on the lip of the Victoria Falls - this from the Zambian side.
I decided it looked good so I went for a walk across and went for a swim - I will see if I can download a few more snaps of it - fun it was .
I get to go to all these lovely spots and mostly with staid elderly folk - the other side of me loves jumping in feet first!
