Is there drama here between bloggers? If so, why? Is there monetary reward for being the top blogger?

I guess I don't know what I don't know.

Your responses to comments, whether you use the 'Quote' format or option or merely use 'Respond' or if you even just make a comment yourself, does NOT count towards the total. Only comments by others, and only ONE comment per person per post is counted towards the total. That's what happens on my blog.

I go both ways. Occasionally I'll quote and other times I'll comment.

If people are leaving long remarks on my post, then commenting is neater for everyone else, to follow, than a quote. I'll also comment when I want to get more personal with a reply. I find it's more intimate... lol 😂 😮

I will enjoy how simple and clean it will be on that NEW site.
😎❗❗

I think doing a response with the quote is the best. Haters can't deny what they put in type or photos attached. It's too bad when a few haters can't get just get on with life and their own business.

IT's a moot point because in the new community there will be no more of any of this..so best just to let it go as there is nothing to be gained.

I quote as my response is then attached to the opriginal comment; it makes more sense that way.
I don't think quoting or responding, or not, makes any difference to one's standing in the lists.

I do not believe I have ever quoted. I respond. Never gave it much thought.

"Respond... Comment" — I should have said Respond; we're into semantics? You knew what I meant.

And hey... knock yourself out about giving flying figs and caring about neatness; your blog, your space.

A quote counts as two and numbers are important for some. That NEW site doesn't play games.
You're not lecturing a newbie FFS. 😎❗❗

I mostly use the respond feature because I like that the person's profile pic is attached to the post. This makes it a more intimate feel I think. Although I have also been trying the quote feature to see what the difference is and which I like more. It also seems to have an impact on the new beta version -- so I'm still playing with it. I'm not really a fan of the limited choice in the beta version.

'Responding', will attach your reply in the same way. Visit my last bunch of posts and you'll see what it looks like. Looks fine.

QUOTING, produces TWO comments which the current A F F algorithm, then uses to ADD to a blogger's standing onto those famous lists.

If I RESPOND to a visitor's comment on my blog — my post will show ONE comment.

If I QUOTE that person's remark — my post will show TWO comments.

It's games people here play, to ply their way to the top of that Leaderboard.

Three recent blog posts I've put out, have attracted more than sixty something UNIQUE comments. If I'd wanted to BOOST my numbers and clamber up that blog list — and QUOTED those remarks — I would have been given credit for more than a hundred and twenty comments.

Games... people... play... 😊

The NEW site only accepts a REPLY and treats it as ONE comment — regardless of the back and forth that might go on.

That NEW site has glitches but it'll clear out bullshit. Popularity... is a state of mind measured in smokey numbers.

Check out that guy on the 'Most Popular Blog' posts. He's commented on his OWN blog a hundreds of times. 😎 ❗ ❗

Loved your interview with that ass who's smart, today. 👍

I usually use the quote....as I like to see what I am responding to. Also I can go to see where I am quoted and seeif there is a response easily.

I click respond. My comment is then nested in the same box as theirs.

I think I use Quote, but may have used Respond also in the past. I don't believe I've tried Add a comment, though.

Many times, when the blogger uses the What do you think? option, I will click on Agree, Neutral, or Disagree rather than leave a comment.

I respond 99.99999% on my posts. I only quote if I want to include an image as NO images allowed in a respond!
I don't care about lists and numbers.

Joy,

Happy Monday Night / Tues more to you My Twin I thought I'd add my 2 cents on this topic..I had written a post years back and wrote a reply to a woman's reply to my blog..She came back again and asked that instead of replying could I please hit the quote reply ..She said something about points etc. I was happy to do that and make her happy. Ever since then I have quoted those who go to my blog and take the time to not only read it but to reply to it.

It is just being respectful to our readers..

Hugs,

Ana6

I just click whatever works. I've found that people who accuse others of wrongdoing are usually guilty themselves. Like a cheater thinking everyone cheats or a thief thinking everyone steals.
In the end it doesn't really matter what anyone else says as long as you're confident in your actions. I only care when the people I love or respect say something about me.

You can quote me on that.

My name is MrWrong and I approved this comment

For me the main option is to quote because the person you are reponding is somehow noticed of your reply when they check the "Where I'm quoted" section, which helps to identify when a comment is replied and eases to come back to an old post

Thanks for correcting me. I didn't realise it made any difference. It's good the new format's algorithm iis ignoring these niceties.
I've seen that blogger; he has some incredible conversations with himself!

I don't really think I am qualified to comment on this other than to say if one responds to a lot of blogs it is useful to see the quote as a reminder . xoxo
