Some time ago I came across an interview of a group of hackers who had broken into a dating website. They programmed it so that messages sent by male profiles to a female profile was rerouted to a male profile, and the recipient thought they had received messages from a female, while in actuality it was two male profiles chatting with each other.
The hacker script would switch pronouns and other words to make the whole conversation credible. That is, until a word or phrase that not been anticipated by the hackers and had slipped through the gender-switching script made no sense whatsoever to the recipient.
Hilarity - and disappointment - ensued.

Something many don't notice, the use of the word "dear" in these messages. Most scammers think that Americans respond to the word 'dear' in a favorable way so they use it, constantly! The second I saw "Hey dear" and then "dear" again I instantly thought SCAMMER!! No one that is a real person, for the most part especially women, use pet names for a total stranger. Many a scammer knows what they have to say and do to hook the victim. Men usually want sex so they give all the comfort sex talk. Women want companionship so the scammers then use all the love words and lots of compliments.

I am not trying to pass judgement on anyone nor be insulting, but if people were not so insecure about being alone many of the scammers would not be in business. If more people believed in themselves and did not need validation of having a partner scammers would not be in business. If people didn't need to hear 'you are cute/handsome' and have their egos constantly stroked the scammers would have a more difficult time. Again, I am NOT saying that to be mean!! So many women need to hear they are beautiful and so many men need to feel like their dick is the golden penis that scammers have a perfect path to them. Common sense would dictate that total strangers don't love you and don't call you dear on the first communications.

Best of luck in your situation....
