It was ok, but it could've been better this time. Didn't really do that much this time out there. Hopefully planning another one around my b-day this year.

Headed back for another trip at the end of July to celebrate a friend's graduation from law school. I went to Vegss when I turned 21 and didn't go again til about four years ago and this year alone I'll have gone twice. Not even sure what I'm gonna do out there this time although I still haven't gone to Hoover Dam yet.

One of my last stops of the day and I looked out the window and saw this parked on the other side of the street. So cool, gotta love the tribute.

Thinking of taking another one for Spring Break this year since im off Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I could use a few my days off as well. Still decide. If I don't I'll just put the I get my tax refund and from my PARS away and put towards a new place after the six month lease here is up.

Decided to plan on going for Spring Break after all. Leave on Saturday the 19th and come home on Wednesday the 23rd. Gonna rent me a Highlander or Charger and leave my car here. Thought about staying where I stayed a few years ago since they keep emailing me bunch of discounted offers but since I was gonna stay at the Luxor figured might as well if the price is right and it certainly is. Got me a premier room in the pyramid. For a 4 night stay and renting a car for 4 days came in under $600 which is awesome. I still got time to ask around and see if anyone wants to come along, who would say no to a free trip to Vegas?

Reservation is set, room is booked. Put out some feelers to others to see who might be interested in going with me just to get away and relax for a few days. Thinking that a group of 4 people is perfect, if 3 people get back to me I'll reserve another room. All they gotta do is pay for their own drinks while we are there, I got everything else covered. The intinerary will be something like this:

Sunday, March 20th
8:00 am - pick up rental car
10:00 am - leave for vegas
2:30 pm - arrive in vegas (luxor hotel and casino)
3:30 pm - check in
6:00 pm - dinner
7:00 pm - sightseeing/walking around

Monday, March 21st/Tuesday, March 22nd
8:00 am - wakeup
9:00 am - breakfast
10:00 am - pool
11:00 am - see what everyone wants to do
1:00 pm - lunch
2:00 pm - see what everyone wants to do
5:00 pm - dinner
5:00 pm - fremont street (tuesday, march 22nd)
6:00 pm - see what everyone wants to do

Wednesday, March 23rd
8:00 am - wakeup
9:00 am - breakfast
11:00 am - checkout
11:30 am - leave for home
4:00 pm - arrive home
5:00 pm - return rental car

Holidays Haven't Been The Same

It's been three years since my grandmother passed away. As well as my family was prepared for that eventual day it will to me be a day I never forget as the last thing my grandmother looked at before she passed was me. One last look, one last smile, one last breath and she was gone. Despite our relationship being up and down (we loved to argue with each other) there was nobody closer to her then I was. The oldest of four grandchildren and the only male when my grandparents took me in when I was five I had to basically learn how to live again. I developed a simple routine during the school year of waking up at 7 am and eating breakfast and getting dressed, brushing my teeth, combing my hair so that I was ready to go to school by 7:30. School was less then five minutes so always had plenty of time. My grandparents made sure that I had everything I could need and my dad did as well, but when it came to my grandmother there was just something she did that made things mean more. Our bond was special because while my grandfather would be at work it would be me and her at home during summer. I remember Monday mornings we would go to the Luckys store that my grandfather managed and grocery shop for up to three hours. I would be running down the aisles grabbing items and run back to the shopping cart asking "Whats next?" There were times I would wonder around the back of the store seeing the warehouse workers unloading the trucks. We would go to the Farmers Market on Tuesday mornings and while my grandmother went and looked around I always carried my basketball and head to courts to get some practice in. Nobody else was ever there that early so I was able to use the full court to my advantage. I would often get about an hour of good work in.

Once my grandfather retired on 2000 and had a triple bypass I had just graduated high school the summer before and he was able to get me my first full time job working with him so I got to work with him the last four months before he retired. After his surgery and recovery he was so bored he went back to work flying to Hawaii to redesign a few grocery chains on the island. He would be gone for two weeks and come home for one then go back for another two which would leave me and my grandmother home together. Now I was working and coaching so the majority of my time was away from home. I'd barely see my grandmother except in the mornings. I remember always being in such a rush that if she was to ask me a question I would get annoyed that of all the times to ask me aquestion that requires me to stop and answer is wasting my time. She asked cause she cared and I would lash out and leave and those are times I deeply regret not taking the few minutes to just bring her up to speed on what's going ok.

I bring this up because it's the holidays like today, Thanksgiving and next month Christmas and Easter in the spring where I miss her the most. She was the glue that held our family together. She insisted on Knotts Berry farm Easter brunch and as soon as I turned 18 I stopped going. Thanksgiving would be so big that we had leftovers that would last at least two weeks. And Christmas how could I ever forget cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa while opening up our presents and seeing Santa's name in her writing leaving us money.

There is someone in every family that is the glue that holds you all together and brings you together when you're far apart and when that person is gone nothing is ever the same. You get together as a family but it's not the same. Something is missing. Someone is missing. So I implore all of you out there to cherish every day you have with your family members. There will come a day when they are no longer here and the older you get the closer that day approaches. Make the most of these times together because once they're gone you will do anything to have them just one more time.
