Are you my Soulmate?

In rom-com movies we often hear characters speak of looking to find their soul mate. I wonder is there such a thing as a soulmate? If so, is it possible to find your soulmate here on A.Ff? Can two people really have such a deep connection that is had by no other? Can only one person be your soulmate? On a planet with 7 billion people on it, I believe that at least one soul mate could exist for each one of us. But where do you look to find they, zee, him, her or them? Are we doomed to never find this person because they live half way around the world from you? Don’t you worry, I think that person could be closer at hand than you think.

To me Soulmate conjures images of two people so connected and partnered together that their love for one another transcends this mortal life to the spiritual life and exists for all time. According to Miriam Webster’s Dictionary: Soul mate is now often used by English speakers to describe those with whom our bonds of affection are marked by a strong sense of like-mindedness and intertwined affinities. So fear not, your soulmate may only be a mouse-click away.

I have had quite a few long-term relationships over the course of my life and I was married for a couple of decades as well. When I think back to those relationships, were any of them my soul mate? I loved each one of my partners deeply and I was strongly attracted to each person too, but the relationships did not last forever. Does that mean that they weren’t my soulmate? Probably, they were not my soul mate, because by my definition, our connection should have endured throughout our lifetimes. My parents have been successfully married for 55 years. I expect that they will remain married for the remainder of their lives. Truly, this must be the definition of a soul mate; especially in these days where relationships that last beyond the 10 year marker are a significant accomplishment.

Now, I have been on A.F.f for 4 months now and I have not yet found a soulmate. Heck, I have only met a few people at a group meet and greet so I figure it is gonna take a bit of time. Truly, I’m too new on the scene to even be in the headspace of finding a soulmate, but I am always open to possibilities. So my questions to you AF.f-ers are these:
1. Do you believe there is a soulmate out there for you? Have you found him/her/they/zee?
2. Are you looking for a soulmate?
3. Do you think you’ll find your soulmate on AF.f? OR
4. Is there no such thing as a soulmate?

What are you looking for on AF.F?

Tell me what you think about the concept of a soulmate.

Hey

1. Why do people think that their 'soulmate' exists in the same space/time as they do ? What if your true, real, honest-to-God soulmate actually lived in Abyssinia in 1692 ?

2. What is the name for that word arrangement featured in pic #1 ?

Thanks

That's a time-warping idea if you missed out on it by a few centuries. Soulmate love is then the support for reincarnation. Maybe the love for one's dog is the reincarnation of your soulmate. If my soulmate comes back as a cockroach and I used Raid on her already I lose out again. Ugh my mind is warping again.

The word arrangement is called a "Word Cloud Concept" according to my google search.

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Hopefully your soulmate exists now.

I do believe one can find their soulmate on Senior Sizzle and a few members have. I have a few friends on this site that met theirs and now are married to them.Anything is possible. I also believe in soul mates and that deep connection that transcends time and space. True love has no boundaries and does not recognize where exactly it is found between two people...Wonderful post and gives us all the hope that the one meant for us, just may be here under our noses..xoxo

At my age I think that ship ha sailed. I think there may be a soul mate for all of us, but we spend so much time in relationships that don't provide it, we lose our way. I truly hope you find yours

My CountryQueen: It's never too late. I've heard tons of stories of love found later down the road of life. You make a great point that people can lose their way and some develop and repeat patterns of being with the wrong person. My Christmas wish for you is to have that relationship that fulfils you in everyway (if that's what you want of course)!!! Thanks for contributing your ideas!

Soulmates exist, we've all witnessed them, wished to find them. It is rare that people find theirs. I don't think the length of a marriage is a key indicator of people being soul mates, there are still some old school people out there that do not believe in divorce for religious or financial reasons.

I love to read stories of those marriages that have lasted a life time and what they think the key to their success is. There is a lot to be learned from them.

I do believe in soul mates and that we may have more then one. I believe mine is out there and when I am open to it, it will begin.

You've reminded me of the movie when Harry met Sally. There was a montage of real couples that talked about their life long relationships and their success. Makes me smile.

"when you're open to it" is a good example of how we can get in our own way of connecting with a soulmate. But I still think that those feelings might transcend our poor decision making -- and lead us towards that soulmate despite ourself.

I'm looking for my soul mate, I've never loved or been loved, I sincerely doubt I will find him here,, but I live in hope and reading the blogs and chatting to peeps passes the time.
I've tried a lot of dating sites,, but although they are deemed to be "relationship" sites, it's mainly men wanting to get laid.
I'm thinking of just getting a load of cats and retiring

CarpeJamie replies on 12/19/2021 4:37 pm:
Load of cats....LOL!

Never been loved....there is someone out there for you for sure--I know chatting will lead you to that person. The hard part is to let yourself be vulnerable to the right person (at least for me). But it is in being vulnerable that connection flourishes (read Brene Brown (or watch her TEDtalk -- excellent researcher).

No surprise that men want to get laid .... I do too....but I've read so many comments from men in the blog space that they are looking for a relationship (more are looking for this than just a hook-up) People (in general) are social beings and crave connection (see Adlerian psychology) so many men do seek and prefer that long term connection with the right person but some will also be satisfied in the SHORT TERM from getting laid. And for sure on this site (because of the way it is perceived and the algorithm it uses) it seems harder to find those "relationship" people --but there are many out there too.

There are many success stories of on-line long term relationships on this site and on other dating sites. Yours could be a click away.

Thanks for sharing your ideas. You've got a great sense of humour which is what most people rank high in a partner.

Happy chatting and searching.

If I were to find my soulmate I doubt there is much I could do but follow my heart but at this point I am not seeking that as my responsibilities far outweigh that option right now.
