My name is BahamutZaero, and I was relationship retarded.
I'll admit... the first time I was on this site was back in 2003. What did I do? Bluntly post requests in the forums for 'hookups'. Then again in 2005 - I did the EXACT same thing.
And, amazingly enough, I didn't get a SINGLE response. Naturally I became agitated, confused, felt I was misunderstood and alone. What I didn't realize at the time was the truth obvious to all but myself - I was far too young (emotionally), to understand the appropriate way to work this site.
Today, in 2007, I'm a very different person. No longer am I this shy wallflower, shrinking away from a pretty girl or seeking refuge from a large group of people. I'm now the first one to jump up on the table and start dancing to the music! With my new found confidence and understanding, along with some added emotional intelligence, I attempt this site again, only now with an entirely new perspective.
And this time? It's working. I'm making friends, meeting people and having a wonderful time! People are responding to me, and I'm having great conversations.
I see many posts on the forums from guys saying, "Is anyone real here?" "Why doesn't anyone respond to me?" "Does this site really work?". The truth is that yes, people are real, this site does work, and if people aren't responding to you - then you just need to keep trying. AND... you need to go to Meet and Greets.
Like anything in life, you cannot just join this site and immediately assume that by sitting back, there will be hundreds of people wanting to have sex with you. It simply does not work that way! The people on this site are wonderful, fun, intelligent and creative people. For any one of them to just pick a random person they only saw the profile of and take them on a wild fuck-fest is certainly an almost impossible situation. There needs to be trust, friendship, and a foundation.
The key word here, of course, is 'foundation'. One must make friends, find a group here that you are comfortable in, and become part of it! Build a foundation of friends and acquaintances, even if they aren't people you would ever become naked with! Friends come first and foremost before everything else - talk to people, go out and go to M&Gs assuming you will never see a lick of sex with a single one of them.
Once one understands this... the foundation can grow, friends can be made, and the incredible population of this site opens up to you in a very friendly and honest way.
Now go, young grasshopper! Go and DON'T get laid - make friends. Then see what lingers upon your horizon...

At last, after so long of reading and wondering, I finally pulled myself out of my house and attended a Meet and Greet. I must say, it was excellent! Everyone is so nice, friendly, open and honest. It's very refreshing to walk into a new group of people, and right away realize that pretty much everyone is intelligent, mature, fun, witty and overall with it. Infact, I enjoyed it so much that I stepped up to the plate and offered to manage the second event when the original host said he was unable to make it. I'm looking forward to getting to know people better and making new friends through these Meet and Greet events, parties and whatever else I may make it to!

Times changed quite a lot, as have everyone around us. Through hard work and personal accomplishment... finding my career, becoming happy with where I live and making great friends, I find something is still lacking in my life due to not taking the time to look for it. Then I come across this site! Open minded people of all varieties, shapes and sizes. Honest people, smiling faces and everything in between.
Here's to the beginning of a wonderful membership!
