Happiness is a choice

I recently read something that has always made sense me, but I rarely practice.
Happiness is a choice. If you decide be happy then your mind will make happen.
I believe that be true.
The question I have is, how do you kindle a fire that burned out long ago?
How do you make you mind see something in someone that you once loved.

 Happiness IS a choice, but love/lust is a two way street. Each person must freely give and receive for it to last.

 I think it is funny that the more you think about something, something you have said, the more or less sense it makes. For example, When I said, Happiness is a choice, I still agree that it is a choice. But sometimes the situation that you are in helps to determine if you stay happy or not. I can choose to be happy but if the situation that I exist in is toxic then my happiness will be short lived at best.
