From a recent read:

Recently, while driving I reached for an unopened pack of gum and began to fumble with it. My sub sitting next to said "let do that" and of course, as the<b> macho </font></b>Dom replied "No I've got this." And exactly one second later, realized my error and passed it over to her to open. I belatedly realized that she honestly NEEDED - not wanted, to open it for .
I then realized that there have been multiple times when opportunities came and went that I did not let her fulfill her need to serve in the "little" ways.
Simple things. Oh yes, I give her lots of direction when in play but neglect the to things that may be just as important, if not more so, for her to feel fulfilled in her chosen role.
By not including her in the mundane as well and the major tasks, I minimized her value of herself in her own eyes. She began to feel excluded. I never realized how the little things could make such a difference.
