Trapped

She wakes up to another beautiful day. She looks out the window and decides that after her morning coffee she must get outside and enjoy the weather. She wanders the house as she drinks her coffee, not really paying attention to anything in particular, letting her thoughts wander.

She feels her phone go off. "Morning" is all it says. "Good Morning" she replies back. She gets no response. Typical. She finishes her coffee and pulls out her bikini. She's not going to waste the day sitting by her phone. She puts on her bikini, grabs a towel and heads to the pool. Ahhh the sun feels great. She smiles. A touch of sadness crosses her eyes. She pushes it away. She misses him.

She feels the water, a little chilly, but that doesn't stop her. She grabs her float and in she goes. Damn thats cold! She lays back on her float, drifting on the water as her thoughts drift to him. She misses him but wont tell him. He hates clingy, so does she. She hates the silence, the distance, the emptiness. He has no clue as she keeps it to herself. She wonders how his day is going but doesn't want to bother him at work.

She tells herself to stop feeling sorry for herself. She made her choice, crying over spilt milk never solved anyones problems. She looks at her phone, nothing. Oh well. She sighs and rolls over. She wonders when she became so weak. She doesn't like it. She's determined to go on about her own devices, to not give in to that temptation to send that text. Being in a pool helps that for the time being. She normally doesn't win that battle. She is always the one to give in and send that message, make that connection. If even brief. She hates herself for that. For being weak.

She thinks of a million different conversations they have had over the years. Of the banter back and forth. The laughter, the teasing. When did that stop? She misses it. Does he? When did they lose the ability to have fun? She tries to remember but can't. She frowns. She needs to stop being so dang serious.

She looks at the time. Almost lunch time. She's getting hungry. She gets out to dry off before going inside. She looks again, still nothing. She types a message, delete. She types another, deletes it as well. What's the point. If he wanted to talk he would.

She needs to find something to keep her mind busy, to fill the endless hours alone. To find a way out of this endless replay of memories. She will at some point, but for the time being, she's trapped in her own thoughts, wishes, wantings and memories. Maybe some day he will know............
