but you dart through future
which memory
your boys voice shouting out
remainder of poems
of which I know
simply beginnings

For you
written January 18th, 2021

My future self
I want you to have
songs in your heart
and your tongue.

I need to see you
darting through future
boldly singing chanting screaming crying
that today are unimagined and unborn.

Beginnings are anything but simple
but for you to be comfortable
having a voice
I have to start today.

So I write these
which feel so inadequate
forcing myself
not be mute

for you.

 I often get inspiration to write from reading other poetry. I try to read some poetry every day. The quote from a poem at the top of this poem is from an anthology which is a favorite of mine, from Copper Canyon Press. I'm not good at formatting these things, but I want the quote to be before the poem, and for it to be clear they are not my words. In time I'll find something that looks better.

 a ff you kill me! this poem is about finding words, and you deleted the word "word", repeatedly! we've talked about how the site deletes words in blogs. yup. just go ahead and try to delete my words lol. cracks me up.

 Got to love the word eater. One solution is to repost your whole post as your first comment. A tad bit extra work but at least it preserves your work for all to see properly.
Lovely poem. Using other works as a jumping off point doesn’t dilute the fact you created something wonderful. And you also formatted it nicely. I love the idea of addressing your future self. It not only shows a positivity in you but a willingness to change. Bravo. Hugs.
