Manipulative I just looked at the "Profiles I Viewed" today and it shows me looking at 43 member's profiles. Some that I've never even scrolled past. I've probably looked at 6 or 7 today but the point is that I've been on this site for over a year now and I'm finally understanding why people are so "friendly" toward me in their initial messages. Sheesh. I did google this and saw posts about this happening from years ago, so I figured I'd create a new post just to update that... it's still a thing. |

The site will do this often. They'll have a profile put up in my 'viewed' or 'flirted with' section. It's their way of lying and getting people to pay for a membership. It's like they're saying, "Someone's interested in you. If you buy a membership you might have a chance."

I had noticed that too! I even went as far as changing my password thinking someone was looking at profiles using my account. But now, they or someone or the site itself says I have looked at well over 2K profiles. Now, I know I have seen many, but I can guarantee nowhere near 2K! Not even half of that. it's a little weird, but what-cha-gonna-do? (shrug)

I have found that if you even scroll your cursor across a profile, it pops open in a small window. I suspect that this action is recorded in your view-count and whoever's profile was *opened* gets a message that you have *viewed* it. That said, viewing a profile is hardly an invitation to *come hither*. It may inspire a friendly follow-up, but you are not obliged to respond, especially as you likely receive dozens of messages each day. A number of members have an auto-reply that politely acknowledges a message, confirms that she/he has a busy inbox and indicates that- due to time constraints- a more personal response may not be forthcoming.

You're right - there's so much manipulation by the site and/or the fake profiles and scammers that it's become one of the most untrustworthy sites I've ever visited. So just beware. Looking for Mischief

I noticed the same thing. I had my profile up for about 10 minutes. I hadn’t posted a photo and nothing more than the most basic information and it tells me 6 people viewed my profile. I was on here long enough in the past to know that people don’t look at profiles without pictures. They are fraudulently trying to get people to pay money. Many profiles aren’t even legit. Just my two cents

Yup....its a site way of trying to foster interactions. Its been doing it for years. Golds will send mails...." hey i saw you looked at my profile"....lol. Nope...not me. Just one of the many many glitches of the site ~~

You are correct. The site has gotten worse over the years. Each time it gets sold, some new way to suck money develops. Typically, all it does is suck the fun out it. Sadly most of the fake profiles here are women, most are between 25 and 30, and most have one picture. Those are statistically the most likely to generate attention. By my estimation, about 1/3 to 1/2 of the profiles here are fake at any given time. To give their fake profiles "life" they randomly assign views and sometimes even flirts from both the fake and real profiles that are in the target range. Having been here for almost 10 years on and off, I can say that the site used to be a useful place to meet like minded people. Over the last couple of years, they've made it very hard to contact or communicate with real people... if not impossible. Anyhow, good luck in your searches. There are some real and good people sprinkled between the cheaters and prostitutes, fakes, and liars.
