i am now an official old lady walker. bent over from the back and ribs and not doing well with the neck. pfft.

i can skedaddle along at a good pace but i look ridiculous. my charming next door neighbor laughed out loud as he watched me pass; if i'd had any side vision i'd have swatted him with my cane.

my posture has always been great and a source of pride. and for the first time i feel like an old lady. i am NOT enjoying it.

yes, it will all unbend in time and i will re-join the homo erectus crowd but i am gaining insight and empathy for those that struggle with daily. it's not easy making your way down the street....i feel like i need one of those things they have on submarines....

peripheral vision IS a big deal.

still, i'm up and about and the pain is manageable and i get to spend money i don't have on a new car. yippee.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

Try not to cough or sneeze and sleep with a pillow covering your ribs.
(Actually, I had to sit in a chair to sleep.) It's a good sign that you're up and walking on the road to full recovery!

Oh MY, WickedE.

What happened with your brakes? (I'm imagining some dark plot to render you out of action by the cabal that wants to privitize social services so they can take us back to Dickensien times)

I suspect that you were very empathatic with the less mobile to begin with, but you're seeing the bright side of what is a temporary condition.

very GENTLE hugs to you
Chas

Glad you are mobile, albeit with some constraints. Only thing worse than not being able to move your neck is having somebody else wipe your ass.

Slow and easy WE...do not over do it...and go look at the Hyundai Sonata. I love mine. They handle well in weather, the gas mileage is amazing and the price is great too!

Ah, oui...

To parrot-phrase my very dear friends over to Clairol (makers of that ageless boop-juice, "Loving Care")...

"You're not getting older--you're getting benter."

There's an insurance adjuster involved here--right? Over the past 15-20 years, most all brakes are design as two redundant systems--front and rear. I'd suggest you discuss that fact with him/her. If there was a recall on that car, you might just get a new one out of the deal... and perhaps some coverage for your body-work, too.

What peeps won't endure just to get into one of them new green-powered Chevy VOLTs.

WE, it's good to hear you skeedaddling around whopping at the whippersnappers...lol. You're as feisty as ever, I'm glad to hear.

I have to agree with Canyaz, I too own a Sonata and love my car. Have had Hyundai cars for 8 or 9 years now. Traded in my Accent, and moved up to a Sonata in 2010. I also have my mother's Elantra now, too. I bought them for the warranty and it comes with roadside service. I haven't needed the warranty, but I've used the roadside service for tires a few times. The cars are great.

Good luck on your new car search and a speedy recovery!

It's a tough way to get empathy! My sister went through a similar thing a couple years ago when she broke her leg and was on crutches for several months.

Hang in there, sending you big hugs!

Wishing you fast healing and a reasonable deal on a car!

Whenever I get hurt or sick I feel older these days; this, too, shall pass.

Maybe when you get that new Chevy Volt and start driving again, you can also get one of those special parking permits for disabled folks. I hope you get "straightened up" real soon.

And I hope that so-called "cabal" which Chas refers to above had nothing to do with your accident. If you ask me, that conspiracy theory sounds like a bunch of "humbug" to me.
