Found out yesterday, that my health insurance is going up. The increase is being made not by the Company I work for, but by the Insurance Company itself. The increase is a hundred and seventy dollars per by weekly pay if I keep the same plan I'm on now with the same deductible and co-pays, or I could switch to a new plan with higher co-pays and deductible for a hundred and twenty-eight dollars more a pay. With either option I'm paying through the nose and it makes a serious dent in my take home pay.

Just when I thought things were starting to look up for me, having some cash in the bank so I could save for retirement, being able to visit a Doctor when I needed too the greedy bastards ( Insurance Company ) Wants to up their profits and get richer by taking a bigger bite out of me. The employers I work for are not going to pony up any more cash on their end either. At least not for me, Of the four people working here, three of which getting the provided insurance, my cost are the largest increase, the other two will be getting more help from our employers. Not much more mind you, but more than I'll be getting.

With no time really to go out and shop on the open market ( HR. wanted an answer toot-sweet by the close of business yesterday so they could get the paperwork rolling with the Insurance Company ) I was stuck for it at least for now. I took the plan with higher co-pays and Deductible.

One of the reasons I've stayed with this job for so long ( being here twelve years this past February ) Is the fact that it offered me a chance to have insurance and still live comfortably with a living wage. I feel like I'm back to square one again. Having to live pay check to pay check not knowing if I'll be able to make ends meet.

For all the crap I put up with here, I'm wondering if it's even worth my time and trouble to stay on? Not having a raise in over five years, ( Hell the dishwashers that work for my son in Montana make more per hour than I do ) doing more work than I was hired to do, working seven days a week...I don't have the time nor the stamina to look for a second job to cover the increased costs. Nor do I feel like making a job change so late in life or after I've been here so long. Hopefully I'll be able to find some insurance on the open market that won't take such a bite out of my ass? Then again I don't even know where to start looking for new insurance. Or if I can find any that compares to the health insurance I was getting for the same costs.

So that was my day yesterday...getting bent over and taking it in the ass with out so much as a kiss, a reach around, or lube. Thanks U.P.M.C. ! Glad i could help you make a profit.

Off to shower now.....

Wow.....so messed up that is. Do you get housing ? Already at a reduced rate ? Maybe the owners will subsidize in that manner somehow. Thats seems like alot to be deducted. As we age insurance and job longevity is sooo impt. If your gonna switch employ,i wish you luck, hoping age discrimination doesnt factor in~~

I have no words!! What a kick in the ass!! There should be controls of some kind put on Insurance companies to prevent them from making big increases. Every damn thing in this life comes down to the God almighty dollar and corporate greed!!

I would seriously consider asking for the company to cover the increased cost. Pay it themselves or give you a raise to compensate.
Check to see if you can qualify for your states insurance plan. Most states have insurance offered to people making low wages which is the bulk of people. If your apartment is part of your 'pay' then your checks are lower which could work in your favor.

I'm sorry life is getting you down. I've been there before and its miserable. Insurance is necessary and so evil at times.
