Been getting that a lot from the boss. It seems I finish work tasks too quickly. Back under the old owners we had a list of things needing done. Once completing a job, I knew where to go next. In put from the boss wasn't needed. Nor required. In fact back then my boss now wasn't even my boss...he was the head of the maintenance department sure, but the old P.M. was the one who gave me the lists to do and the one I answered too, or went to when I had questions about work, and where to go next..if I needed too. That all change when the new owners took over. No more list printed out. Now all the units needing done are posted on a white board in the office. That list changes daily sometimes, so it's never exactly right. Units that haven't even been walked through ( to determine how bad they are, what they'll need in regards to painting cleaning or maintenance work ) are being shown to prospective tenants, and rented no matter what state they may be in. Hence no one knows exactly what's going on sometimes, or what need to get done when. It's a silly way to run the Parade, but then I'm just here to clean up after it. So, when I get done with something I always go back to the boss, what's next? He checks his phone ( he takes daily photos of the white board ) and we go from there. I suppose I could do the same...but it's not my job to figure out "Who's on First " or what's on second. It's now the bosses job to know that. I already have more jobs to do now and I really don't need to be taking on the responsibility of that as well. Ergo, when I do things too quickly and zip through his work assignments of the day, I often get the "I don't care what you do" line in lieu of the last line of the Abbot and Costello bit " I don't give a damn" I know the boss gets frustrated when I go to him, but there is nothing else I can do. I'm not the type to lolly gag, or gold brick after I've finished something I want to move on to what's next...so I'm not having to get something done at the last moment that needs doing, or should have been done to be ready when it's needed. The new system of doing things works to a point, but I'm tired of being the short stop. Off to jump in the shower now....

Maybe you should run the place. You have worked it and know it inside and out.
