Middle of the week, St. Patty's day, Hump day. I spent yesterday morning pulling carpets, in the afternoon, I was inspecting Fire Extinguishers and smoke alarms in the stairwells. Counting the number of extinguishers that had grown legs and walked away, and listening for the chirp of low batteries in the smoke detectors. Today my hips are barking like dogs needing to go out to take a leak. No wonder as that's a lot of stairs to climb to do the job. I only found twelve extinguishers missing. Given the number we have around here, that isn't bad. Only two of the smoke alarms were chirping and I changed the battery in one of them, I would have gotten the other one, but there wasn't enough time to go back and get the ladder out again and do the job..had to clean the laundry and gym before I went home for the day. After I get my morning work done it'll be easy enough to change the battery out. As for the extinguishers? Well the boss will have to order more to replace them. As well as some new hooks to hang them on. It seems when the things walked off they took their hooks with them. I suspect some of them didn't walk very far, a few short steps away into one of the apartments on the floor where they had been hanging. Not that people need the extinguishers in their units at all. As all the units have built in sprinkler systems in every room. But you can't tell the extinguishers that..they want to be on hand to protect the units as well and when they grow legs they tend to walk into the units...just to be on the safe side.

Speaking of the sprinkler systems while pulling carpet in that one unit yesterday morning, I heard water running, I thought the painter might have been cleaning out his brushes and rollers at the kitchen sink and thought nothing of it...but it sounded like water was hitting the floor..I went out to tell him to be more careful and not to make such as mess unless he wanted to clean it up, when I noted he wasn't even in the apartment anymore..he'd packed up and moved to the next unit on his list. I look at the sink...dry as a bone....then I notice the waterfall coming from the ceiling just above the sprinkler pipe...nope not a burst pipe either. The waterfall was coming from the unit up stairs. Turns out some one had turned on the sink while the Mom who lived there was taking a nap. They'd also left a wash rag in the sink blocking the drain....Yep, the fun never ends around here, nor the work. Now the painter has to come back in and make repairs on the kitchen ceiling and then re stucco and paint it, as well as the kitchen wall.

How was your day?

I'm off to shower now...If your going out tonight to hoist a few in honor of St. Patty's Day, please be safe. Don't drink and drive...
