Hum, I assumed that being in a desert it's be warm most of the time? I'm on Natural gas for heat here, a pellet stove would be cool, but I think the owners of the apartment complex would frown on me if I tried to put one in. Been thinking about buying an electric blanket just haven't gotten around to going out to buy one yet.

 try to see a thing from different perspectives; you might get different answers or feelings,

for Russians, cold wheather or snows are their normal lives; and it's because this cold wheather, you get the chance to see the beauty of snows, and play on the snows for hours, aren't you?
