Living with PTSD

For those never heard of it. PTSD stands for post traumatic stress disorder. Different people act differently when the go into an episode. For I just freeze , My hands start shaking and I feel trapped. It isn't easy to deal with and requires visits with a psychiatrist and a psychologist. It also means medication to help deal with it.
But one of the best ways is to learn about your triggers. For me one of the triggers is large groups of people. I never knew why I was so sick after going through a black Friday at Walmart. We had just started going 24 hours and I was overnight cs Just happened to be the first time Walmart decided to have a 10 pm sale on Thanksgiving and then the 5:00 am sale. I was overwhelmed. Had every register manned front. Had to have my 2nd csm open the customer service register. Plus had to put managers on all the other registers in the other areas of the store. Lines every register. Things not ringing right. People bringing the wrong things to the register. Doing breaks. When the first sale was over there was products just left on the floors customers just dropped and left. It was a mess. Then sick all winter. Doctor put me on some meds and 3 days off work. really pissed management off. It was about 6 months later I went to the VA rep to replace paperwork was lost. time the VA rep asked me about some things and had even gotten part of my medical records. She filed my claim and then the fun began. But is another blog
So anyway I live a hermit lifestyle. I can't go enjoy any fireworks shows. And it gets hard. But I keep pushing through. Different people act differently. I have not purchased a weapon because it scares on what I might do with it. I do my shopping either early morning or late night when there are less people shopping
I hope most of you never have to deal with it. some can usually relate from having night sweats and flashbacks. My flashbacks are weird because it combines the two events happened. So when I have a flashback I see women with guns behind rocks shooting . No fun to deal with and I have a morning pill I take and one night to help prevent the flashbacks. Not fun feeling like a walking pharmacy.

Peace Out

there are a lot of people suffering with PTSD doesn't have to be just a vet. It is good to know what your triggers are so you can avoid them.
