Disabilities

I served in the Air Force from Apr 74 - Nov 85. During time I did a tour to Turkey and my last tour was in Germany. In Turkey in 1980 I was shot by terrorists while doing a delivery to a remote radio site. Since it was peace time we wasn't allowed to carry weapons. In 1985 while in Germany my first ex attacked me with a pairing knife, still have the scar. She did it because I cut off her drug , but the was sleeping with anyone would supply and took great joy telling about it. I carry those mental scars as well. I was placed on protective custody, removed from the home until they could get her back to US. Haven't seen her since. But as a result I got ostracized by the unit. Sucked when nobody would communicate with you. As a result of these two traumatic events I have been living with PTSD. And the worst thing is I didn't know until 6 ago. I fought the government for 4 to get my benefits. See they don't tell you the biggest war you will be involved in is against your federal government to get the benefits you earned and was promised. When you file your claim you are treated like a criminal. So after all this I finally got my benefits, well worth the fight. I have a severe sinus condition and PTSD. But what made me mad was I should of been drawing the benefits since 1985. But back then you wasn't briefed about your benefits upon discharge. Now the law states a veteran has 5 to file a claim and they have to be briefed when they are discharged.

But another law changed things is no more 100% rating Now once you reach 70% rating you have to file an inability to work paperwork. More interviews. They will the 100% but not give the rating I have a 90% rating and get the 100% rate. A difference of $1200 a month. Part of what they screw the vets out of. At 70% you get vision covered. At 50% you get your medical. But to get dental covered you have to have a 100% rating So sorry you have to get dental insurance which they will gladly sell you. But the big thing concerns where you live. Anyone isn't 100% rated has to state income tax on their disability . So to avoid you have to pick a state with no state income tax. Good reason for the senators and congressmen and women to pass the law. Gives more to the state paid for by those suffered to keep this country safe.

Now after working 40 60 hours a day my body started breaking down. A hernia surgery, 2 surgeries on right shoulder basically rebuilt it, and 2 surgeries on my neck. I have 6 fused discs. All within a 5 timeframe. And on top of I have degenerative disc disease. All the discs in my lower back are bulging I refuse to let them fix the surgeries on the neck were supposed to be the safest but then I don't feel any better. And on top of everything on oxygen 24 hours a day.

So there you have it, I may not look disabled but I legally a Remember there are millions of people out there with disabilities. It may not be present from the outer eye but doesn't mean they aren't.

Well is all for now. Peace Out
