I am part Italian , part scandinavian , part spanish , part caucusus, part eastern european part south east asian and part european jewish . I have been to italy and have rudimentary Italiano I must polish , we will go again .I know some norwegian , my wife is mostly norwegian and wants to visit family .I am mostly danish scandinavian ,so danish may help when we go to to iceland or greenland i forget which speaks what . godt nitte buona sera , gud nacht, Friends in osaka will have to wait I know a tiny bit of japanese but my wife hates fish and does not want to visit soon . arigato

I took Spanish for 8+ years but over time your vocabulary vanishes and speaking it is rough. I'd love to do it combined with Portuguese (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

I am Native American Indian and I have two languages one is English and the other which took me years to muster is Cherokee..which makes up part of my heritage ..I have no desire at my age to study or learn another ..thanks

If I have an opportunity at any age, I definitely want to learn Japanese language. First, Japan is a country with both tradition and modernity coexisting in peace (well, most of the time). The public transportation system, both national level and regional level, is very efficient and reliable. In cities, it is also very punctual. (There is almost no room for tardiness.) This is especially true for trains, high-speed trains (also called shinkansen), and mass transit railways, which have been used by the majority of people in Japan, and even more so in cities with large rail network, such as Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Kyoto, and Sapporo. I heard the food in Japan is very good in average, at least in most kinds of food. The lodging in Japan does come in many forms, from capsule hotel to ryokan, but I definitely want to try staying in ryokan for at least one night to really experience Japanese culture and hospitality. What I find it difficult is only 1% of population of Japan has at least very good command of at least a foreign language. So if I go to Japan without knowing Japanese, it can be a huge problem, especially in rural areas like Tohoku region, which is the place I really want to go, especially Fukushima prefecture and Aomori prefecture, which are known for having beautiful mountains and forests, hot springs, and, of course, local cuisine that is simple yet delicious. So I definitely should learn Japanese language with great fluency if I need to enjoy Japan in the fullest degree. Second, I'm a hot spring lover, and I have been to one hot spring in the state of California called Harbin Hot Springs, where I soak myself in natural hot spring water while being completely naked during Mother's Day 2015. Sadly, this hot spring was destroyed by fire about a few months after my first and, sadly, last visit there. It's now being rebuilt, but not completed yet. But I heard Japan is one of many countries with hot springs, plus there are thousands of hot springs for public use from Hokkaido prefecture to Okinawa prefecture. As mentioned earlier, the Tohoku region, consisting of six prefectures (Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate, Miyagi, and Yamagata), is famous for hot springs that are rustic, yet very soothing and relaxing, due to the fact that this region is VERY rural, LITERALLY, with its economy center mostly on agriculture, fishery, and forestry. So this region is truly a paradise for hot spring lovers who love being in real nature like me. Again, an overwhelming majority of people there only speak Japanese, so it's definitely a great idea to learn Japanese if you want to enjoy the Tohoku region of Japan at the fullest.
