New Brunswick joins the rest of Canada in gonorrhea outbreak

This story from the Canadian Press published April 26th 2019
New Brunswick has declared a Provincial gonorrhea outbreak., with a steep rise in cases being blamed in part on anonymous sexual encounters arranged through dating apps. Public health authorities say 96 cases were reported last year , compared to a five year average of 54 cases..Another 20 cases were reported in the first quarter of this year alone , versus an average of 12.
The Province's Chief Medical officer of health , Jennifer Russel , says social media tool enable anonymous sex while making it difficult to track infections.National stats confirm STI"s are on an upward rise across the country..Dr. Russell encourages anyone having unprotected sex to get tested.., " its not unusual for individuals who have an infection and to have more than one infection at the same time, HIV, Gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia are all examples of these infections," she said in a statement .
Untreated chlamydia and gonorrhea can lead to inflammatory disease in females , affecting fertility. "Testing for sexually transmitted infections should be part of everyone's routine health checkups", she says," getting tested and treated appropriately can prevent further complications such as fertility and it also helps to stop the transmission of the disease."
Gonorrhea is the second most common reported STI in the country, about 19,845 cases were recorder in 2015 , which is a jump of more than 65% from 2010 , Males have higher rates than females , with the highest in ages ranging from 15 -29 years of age..Nova Scotia has noticed a steady rise in gonorrhea and chlamydia in the Halifax area .In 2017 BC recorded 3,295 cases of gonorrhea a dip from roughly 3700 a year earlier ...someone doing something right..?
Experts also note that men and women who contract most of these diseases are having unprotected sex with partners who practice bi sexual activity , men who have unprotected sex with men and women who have sex with those men are vulnerable to exposure if protection is not used ...Ummm food for thought !

yes they are and its been proven time and time again but I don't altogether agree with blaming the sites for this, people are going to get together anyway and with the amount of sex without protection I think the numbers could be higher than whats being stated..the sites are a conduit and people don't need to be on them and a lot are not..so that's my opinion ..thanx

The last paragraph should have been first.
Its THE MAIN reason why a lot of women do not mess around with bi-sexual men. Women that do should be demanding that protection is used.
It seems these days people are becoming more complacent about any STD.
Maybe because HIV/AIDS are not front page news anymore. It should be.
The numbers cited by the health dept only covers those who DID get tested. Be more afraid of tjose who don't.

Well lol its not just the ones in NB that are infected ..these are just the latest stats coming in from across Canada ..I don't have the stats for States like NY as the ones who get tested and are positive for sexually transmitted diseases ..World wide its becoming an epidemic and its the ones who are carriers and are not using protection that are spreading disease...NY also has high stats as well as most every Province in Canada and States throughout the USA , numbers are high now but suppose everyone gets tested I believe the numbers would be staggering! Do you have a grudge with NB? sounds like you have something going on...I insist on Protection always...do you?
