Valuable instructions for those considerijng meeting ANYONE offline!!!

As a former chat room monitor for an 80s era ISP AOHELL, we always cautioned both men and women to meet in a public place before going on to other exploits.
First, meetings should always be casual, last maybe an hour at best and have no expectations set or agreed upon in advance other than to say hello and have a cup of coffee, kind of a feeling out like an initial job interview....
NEVER drink alcohol during the meet and greet....cocktails are too easily spiked. Make sure to maintain eye contact with any food or beverages you consume. AND this should be discussed before finalizing the initial meet.,,,,ALWAYS agree that as adults if we are NOT getting the level of chemistry or "vibe" or if there are ANY red flags then either party can terminate THIS meeting, No harm, no foul.

Moving onto the date
You should always tell a close trusted friend or loved one (NOT TEENAGE !!) where you are going, who you are meeting and what time you expect to be home. Leave your dates name and phone number as well. Next set a time to check in by phone, NOT TEXT MESSAGE. Set up code words for danger or safe conditions. Not checking in within a reasonable period of time, like say 30 minutes IMMEDIATELY sets off alarms and calls to the authorities. NEVER assume otherwise! It is best to err on the side of caution than to trust an unknown person! If you agree that your date might last multiple hours such as a road trip or multiple events then ALWAYS set up multiple check-ins!
This might seem like a LOT of trouble to through for what appears to be a harmless little date, but things can turn sour quickly should you have a disagreement or they get too aggressive physically for your comfort level. Remember, NO ALWAYS MEANS NO!
I even take things a bit further. Take notes during any phone calls or emails prior to your date. Do not be afraid to get nosey. Find out who they are employed by and where they live (approximately). Do they have any family nearby? If you agree to meet at one location then drive together to another, take little precautions that might save your life! As you move from one car to another a take 2 seconds and copy their license plate number on your cell AND a piece of paper. Next, educate yourself/ Watch an online police show like LIVEPD or similar or stop by your local police station and ask an on-duty officer how they perform a traffic stop in the field. Observe how an officer approaches a car that they stopped for a violation. They ALWAYS approach from the left rear, checking the back seat area for possible lurkers. Next, they put their RIGHT-HAND thumb and palm prints on the driver side rear fender so as to leave evidence should the car you are riding in gets dumped or swapped.
And lastly, I recommend that you run a quick, low-cost (about $7.50) background check online to check for arrest records, warrants or questionable behaviors..even if they have been dismissed! ALWAYS go with your gut feelings, NOT your loins!!
Better to be safe than sorry!!
