I stepped into the sunlight
it was too bright
it almost burned my skin 
it left me thirsty hungry 
I retreated into the shadows 
beneath the trees 
to hide from the moment 
behind the clouds the rain
I needed time
to think to see
 where I was 
place undecided 
unsure of myself 
a place to rest
for peace of mind 
before I moved forward
