think spring . . . 38

it was the first day of spring
but there was still
a cold chill in the air
there was still a cold wind
that swept across my face
there was still no leaves
on the trees
no flowers blooming
no sign of spring
but then I have never
thought much
of spring or summer
I have always felt
the fall the winter
the spring
is renewed life
new beginnings
a chance to
start over again
to begin anew
to restore what
once was
but those things
are no such happening
I am the autumn the winter
I am the deep sleep
the night
the darkness
I am the cold
that lingers into spring
I am the cold icy wind
that blows
on the first day of spring
