A teardrop in the classroom
A teardrop in the classroom they sit at their desks unable to participate their hearts barely beat their hearts hang low their hearts are broken in a broken system no one listens no one hears no one cares in a place where life is expendable they hold their faces their eyes blindly stare their hearts cry out in anger there is rage within them a teacher asks who can answer this question she stares out the window she daydreams of a blue sky but it is a dark and stormy day a teardrop falls from her eye it trickles down her cheek she wipes it away no one answers they stare blindly at her they are lost they have given up their hope lies dormant they wait to meet their friends at the corner liquor store they file out of the classroom no one says a word there is only silence she sits at her desk at the front of the classroom she hangs her head a teardrop falls from her eye |
