Because there is oil in the Middle East! And we want that oil! And so our government is willing to spend trillions of dollars and sacrifice thousands of American lives, so that we can get oil from the Middle East!

 You do realize the "we want the oil " is kind of weak when it is oil companies that dodge paying taxes in the U.S. yet wish the world to perceive them as American companies, that we are protecting? It kind of sucks big time that 100's of thousands of Iraqis were killed during the most active parts of the Iraq war, along with our service men, and now with Syria, it is a Chinese puzzle (pun sort of intended) and a Russian one, too.

Le sigh. I don't think tRUMP is going about it right and I certainly don't think that getting in bed with Putin is smart...

 That in itself is a damn good question.

We have one ally in the Middle East, Israel.

All the rest can't be trusted for anything.

If it weren't for the oil, it would make a great parking lot !!!
