No matter how old they are....

No matter how old they are....

They always call Mom when they're scared.

I was scooping out the Tilly box last night when my phone started to ring.

It was the Oldest .

"Hey Ma, what's happening?"

I could hear something in his voice, he's never this chipper.

"Not much, I'm just taking care of the cat box. What's up? You sound different."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I've got COVID. I was fine this morning but at some point throughout the day today I lost my sense of taste and smell....."

And then the word vomit started.

You know.... The part where they start spilling it all, thoughts, fears, and worst case scenarios.

"I need to work Ma. I just spent sixteen thousand dollars on that property. Shit, I just met with that older couple I bought it from yesterday. They were nice people Ma! And what about Dad?? I don't want to give it to Dad, it would probably kill him. [Mighty Marine] is coming home in two weeks...."

"Hey... hey... hey.... Let's start with how are you feeling? Are you feeling ok?"

Turns out he was feeling just fine, other than taste and smell no symptoms at all. I spent the next ten minutes calming him down and and quietly talking him through next steps.

It's amazing how you can diffuse a situation just by lowering your voice a hair.

Not going to lie, I am worried about him. No matter how old a Mom is, she will always be worried about her . I've got my fingers crossed that he will be one of the lucky ones who has only mild symptoms and can recover from this quickly. '

I've worked with employees on both sides of that spectrum.....

And heard the horror stories from the ones who weren't as lucky and wound up in the hospital, scared for their life.

That is the last thing I want for anyone, especially my .

Wish us luck!

I wouldn't wish COVID on anyone. Even mild symptoms, let alone if you're hospitalised.
I do hope your son hasn't got it.
He did have it, but he's going to be ok. Very mild symptoms.

Not to be funny but Mom's have special powers, It takes being in the shoes of a child to see these truths. She can rub a bit of spit from her lips and cure a sore, bug bight or other bo-bo, she is magical..

Be sure he understands the benefits of the vaccines. if he gets sick make sure he had the benefits of the coloanal antibodies infusion, they are a miracle.. I know first hand, been there done that!!!

Do have faith that he will be well care for..
I think you're right, we do have special powers. The moment I told him to calm down so we could talk about what was happening and go over what needed to happen, he calmed right down. Turns out he's a lot like me, he needs a plan. Once we had put a plan in place for him, he had something to focus on. Get a test, do your quarantine, text / call me every day.

He is bouncing back very quickly. Aside from a runny nose and headache the first day, he's felt fine. His quarantine lifts soon, which he's happy about, and things will be back to normal for him again. I'm just so thankful.

So far, everything has been pretty mild for him, thankfully. Unless you are in distress, where we are they recommend you stay home and quarantine and let the virus run it's course.

I am so very sorry to hear that your son has Covid. I am assuming that he got tested, however, the loss of taste and smell are big indicators that he most likely has the virus. Right now only 11 states have people who have tested positive for the Omicron there is as no firm evidence that Omicron is more dangerous than previous variants like Delta. Spunkycumfum is right about the symptoms. Your son needs to be tested if he hasn't been and he does need to isolate himself from others until he knows for sure he's either positive or negative. He should also wear a mask. Remember stay calm have your son stay calm and just have him treat his symptoms. I will keep him, and the rest of you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Please if you have any questions ask me if I don't know the answer I will get it.
Our medical systems here are overwhelmed, we can actually get a rapid results COVID test through the drive thru at a pharmacy here. Which he did. He's quarantining and doing his best to keep busy, he texted me this morning and said he's feeling pretty good today and wanted to know if he could go outside and do some work. I did tell him absolutely not, whether he feels like it or not, his immune system is down and he could get sick with other stuff too. It is winter. It's 32 degrees.

He's feeling pretty good today, which eases my mind. I love the fact that he still texts me, to be honest, and calls when he's feeling insecure about something. He's grown and has been doing his own thing for quite a few years now, I go months without hearing from him, so when I do, I feel good.

My sister Dr told her she had it. She just thought it was a common cold in the very beginning of this like Dec. January.
So have him get tested and go from there.
Pray for him he you strong he should e fine.
I'm not certain how it is in other states.... But here in Michigan you can get one of the rapid results tests done at the pharmacy. He got his test yesterday and yes, he has it. His symptoms are mild, he texted me this morning and said he's feeling pretty good and wanted to know if he could go outside and do some work. I, of course, told him absolutely not, he's still recovering.

We appear to be in similar boats. My daughter just had her 5th and apparently has come down, both she and the baby, with Covid from the hospital. Normally I would not worry but she, trying to be delicate, is obese and leads a sedentary life. A parent should NEVER out live a child. A parent works and saves in order to protect and provide for their children.

I confess, I'm worried. She is a mother of five now. You prepare them as best as you can for independence day but no child is truly independent of their parents, whether realized or conscious of it of not.

Somethings are out of our hands. "In waiting (because that is all I can do) I wait." The question always comes down to whether we wait alone or do we wait on the One who hears our cries.
Oh.... The baby too? Poor thing. I'll be keeping them in my thoughts too, I hope everything goes ok.

I do hope all stay well. two of my grandsons had it, no one was sick, just tested positive. My daughter has had to be tested 3 time due to exposure, which had her worried, unvaccinated she wouldn't get paid sick leave, but with her son it didn't matter. Her test came back negative, but the doctor said it was positive. She did tell me she has eye pain, which I have had since getting the shot and she's pretty sure she had it.
With as many people as I'm exposed to every single day at work.... It's a miracle I've never had it. I did get vaccinated as soon as I could, but that doesn't actually stop you from getting it, it just helps you fight it off if you do.

Ugh! As much as I don't want to believe it, I think you're right.

Thank you. I texted him when I got out of work, so far he's doing ok. Runny nose and a little short winded when he's doing stuff. I told him to take it easy and stop doing stuff, he's sick.
