I am woman, hear me roar!

The break room tables I ordered last week came today...

Unassembled and without any predrilled holes for assembly.

Fantastic!!

In true office girl form, I accepted this challenge and set out to take on this project head on.

With the help of Deputy Don, 9 break room tables (in pieces) were removed from 18 boxes and assembled in a 2 hour span.

I am now a complete fan of power drills! Fun!!

Boss #2 had asked in the 2 o'clock meeting for volunteers help , but the fucktards I work with were all 'too busy' to do any helping...

It's amazing how many of them found the time to come back and check out the progress, though.

You can stand around and bullshit for 20 minutes but you couldn't take 20 minutes to put a table together with me?

Yah....

I'll be remembering that the next time someone comes to me for help.

Happy Monday!

I thought you were already a fan of “power tools”. Now ... you know drills are good, too.

Unfortunately, not a new story. In university, when we did group projects, it was usually one or two who did the lion’s share of the work. In the professional world, it’s a bit disturbing how often people try to pass things of to someone (anyone) else. And, yes, folks in the shop have been a bit stunned at being able to perform, or worse, organize actual physical work.

Sounds like there’s a “payback” list which started itself, that day. Doesn’t have to be “satisfied” anytime soon, but it may not be enjoyable for those on the wrong side of that equation ... at some point.

In the end, stuff’s gotta get done, and you can feel good about getting it done yourself. Good on ya, for that.

Karma... What goes around, comes around. One of them came to me today because they needed a new name badge. I pointed to the label maker and said "There you go. Size 18 font. Just make sure you grab the right badge number out of the book," and walked away. The look on her face was priceless... But, she made her own name badge.

Love your pots and pans; nothing like stainless steel! 👍 😊
I've cooked in them a few times... I really, really like them. I was a little concerned that they'd be hard to clean, but they are not! Love them!

We could have used 2 more people, to be honest. One person to unbox everything as it all came wrapped in foam and bubble wrap and miles of tape... in 18 boxes. We could have had it done in a third of the time if we'd had another person to do the drilling piece, also. Between myself and Deputy Don, we unboxed, unwrapped, marked table bottoms where the holes needed to be drilled, drilled the holes, assembled the legs and fastened them to the tables, stacked the finished tables in the corner, removed 2 shamrocks of packaging material from 18 boxes and cleaned up our mess. It was a lot of work and I listened to a lot of griping, I have a giant bruise on my leg as a result of it all... But it's done.

I think you will still help the stooges because you care. Not what they think, but how it reflects on you. Just a hunch but I gather we are alike in that regard. I help people not to look good or earn brownie points but simply because it’s the Right Thing.
I did make the comment to two of my coworkers when they showed up asking how it was going.... "We have a lot of looky-lou's back here, but not much help." They didn't stick around. I feel really disappointed, to be honest.

Believe me, if I could I would. They're all sitting in a stack in the breakroom, I'll bet nobody puts them out and organizes them until I do.

I actually hear more about the office thing than the woman thing. A lot of people assume that because you work in an office you are incapable of physical work. Untrue!

Between the 2 of us, we put together 9 tables. We really needed a third person, up until the second cordless drill died anyway. In usual form, we had half dead tools that were spread all over the floor.
