It's a date!

It's a date!

As in, dried fruit..... Unfortunately.

Nose Hairs brought a container of dates to the afternoon leadership meeting for everyone to try.

Not my favorite food in the world!

Between the weird texture and the thick, pasty residue it left on my teeth, It kind of turned my stomach a little. I can say, with great certainty, I won't be munching on these bad boys any time soon.

Good God!

The whole experience was pretty fitting for my Monday though.... Not quite terrible but I definitely don't want to experience that twice.

Happy Monday, thank God it's nearly over.

I think dates are probably best as part of a recipe of some kind or, like you said, stuffed. Eating just a date, all by itself... Overwhelming.

Nose Hairs did tell me all the different ways in which a date is good for you. I had initially wrinkled up my nose at them.... But felt peer pressure to try. Damn that peer pressure!

So... Wrong... So many ways!! Dates need to stick to where they belong, in bread.

I eat dates regularly, they're a really good source of natural sugars, and keep ye regular........try them chopped into salads, you guys like coleslaw, they're good in that too. I also chop them into a nut and seed mix with raisins. Eeh, I've just remembered that tasty date and walnut salad with bean sprouts and a lime and olive oil dressing........and a wee dod coriander/cilantro......that's lunch sorted then!

Medjool dates, deelish, the should re-name them 'me drool'.......

Sadly, prunes are a terrifically healthy food that help your body in many ways, including vitamin delivery, immune system strengthening, digestion and weight loss. While (in my opinion) it is closer to a *delicacy* than kale, it is rarely anyone's choice for a tasty snack.......unless Nose Hairs is French or a Francophile, in which case he is projecting the French notion that prunes are truly a delicacy.
Actually, I do like prunes and buy them from time to time.... But these were dates, and, there is a difference between the fruit of the two. I know this because I received the lecture. LOL

only time you bring dried fruit to anything is if it's part of a charcuterie board.
I thought so as well. He's brought different kinds of fruit before, some I like, some I don't.... But fruit you can snack on. This.... Not so much.

Hmmm... People who hike a lot and do camping, seem to like them. 😎 🍷 🍷
The teeth part... That was the part I disliked the most! I'm kind of funny about my teeth, they hold high importance to me. You can tell a lot about a person by the condition of their teeth. I didn't like having mine covered in date goo.... yuck!

I did try it... I can now honestly say I have eaten a date. It reminded me a little of the inside of a fig newton, and I did wonder if dried figs are like that too.

Thanks for stopping by and catching up! It's never a dull moment around me... LOL

Actually, I think we all tend to have the same types of things happen to us, it just depends on how we see them and interpret them. Even in the most terrible of situations, I try to find the funny. Sometimes I find it, sometimes I don't.

I've eaten stuff made with dates in it... Like bread, etc, but never just eaten a plain date. It looked like a less moist version of a prune, so I expected the texture of it to be somewhat similar to a prune. It was not....
