Mini Sabbatical Day Three

Oh.... What a lazy day.

It felt amazing though.

I did venture out at one point do a grocery pick up. Now THAT was an experience. I placed the order on Thursday for the only time slot available in a 5 day span... Saturday from 2-3. I get there and had wait in my car for 20 minutes before someone finally made it my car with my groceries.

I guess this is the new normal.

It gave plenty of time people watch.

Everyone is so up-in-arms about all this virus stuff, but a majority of everyone I see is only pretending be safety conscious.

Let's start with the masks.

I watched as women exited 2 cars parked side by side. Probably friends... Maybe relatives going shopping together as an outing. Both had masks and put them on as they were walking toward the store. Part way to the store I watched them stop waking and the one woman adjusted the mask on the other woman's face.

Really??

Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the mask, don't ya thin Hands on face of someone else stretching their mask over their nose. Now, they came in separate vehicles.... I'm going guess, they aren't sheltering at the same home.

Which brings me the shelter at home thing.

If we're supposed be sheltering at home, only venturing out for essentials... Then, why am I seeing entire families shopping? At one point I watched as a mom and what I presume be a teenage and her boyfriend walked toward the store. The hung back a lil so they could hold hands and kiss behind mom's bac

Yah.... I know mom isn't letting them shelter at home together.

Yet, there they were. Not social distancing, not sheltering at home, and exiting the store about minutes later with a tv.

Part of wonders if this whole thing is ever going diminish enough for us go back normal life.

I miss being able just talk about normal stuff.

A gross, old man in an amigo with an oxygen tank and mask pulled up to the self check out today with his cart loaded with groceries. He wanted the self check out cashier to ring up his stuff because he didn't want to touch it.

Good lord....

I told him if he wanted someone to ring up his purchases he had to use a regular lane. He started to say something, so I also added that I didn't think he had fewer than 20 items and the cashier has to monitor 5 other registers as well as his own so she couldn't be tied down to just 1 register.

Well things are likely to start getting messier because the governors are going to and have started to loosen things up... So expect a resurgence in a couple weeks or so.

Well at least I have a good excuse not to shake hands with people anymore and they shouldn't be offended. I'm not supposed to anyways because of the immune suppressants I take but people are such dumb fucks and get so offended when they stick their hand out and you just have. Lol. I can't believe these idiots that are suggesting an elbow bump...after telling you to cough into your elbow...duuuuh.

You know it may be that they brought two cars because they are going to take all the TP and other stuff they can get... Lol

Hope you had a good day today too.
I have really enjoyed my break from work.... My stress level has gone down considerably. Mentally, this was one of the best things I could do for myself. It's back to the crazy tomorrow.... I think I feel ready for it though.

thats bold, but potentially dangerously arrogant.

please be careful of falling into the trap of thinking
that even if you consider yourself to be "strong",
the "cabbages" still cant infect you as well as themselves.

you never know if one of "them"
walked down the aisle youre shopping in
just before you got there.

this thing has proved one thing above all else -
ANY of us could get it.

I said this at the very beginning of all this to a coworker. I had said nature comes up with it's own way to control population and most of the time it's survival of the fittest. I wasn't meaning it in a bad, negative way, just something we've seen countless times in the animal world. Now it's in the human world.

my bugaboo is retailer cashiers wearing gloves.
i have no problem with them wanting to protect themselves, BUT

    if they werent wearing gloves,
im sure theyd sanitize their hands between customers,
but you never see anyone clean their gloves.

those gloves could very well be the dirtiest thing in the store.
and they touch everything we buy.

thats why its ALWAYS self-check for me, WHERE AVAILABLE of course.
it never is in local neighborhood mom-and-pop stores.

    stay aware of your surroundings,

I still feel like gloves and masks give you a false sense of security. Having gloves on is no different than just your bare skin, you still can come into contact with the virus. You still touch your face. Only, you aren't sanitizing as much because you think "I have gloves on". The way I see these people wearing their masks... They aren't protecting anything. Half of them aren't covering their nose, or they have it pulled down under their chin so they can talk. What's the point?

I have an essential job, which means, I'm still required to go to work each day. I see a LOT of stuff... People racing away from me like I have the plague because I cleared my throat. New employees that can't afford to not work because they were self employed previously and don't get unemployment asking me if they are allowed to wear goggles to work to protect themselves. The young couple that came in shopping with their baby because they were tired of sitting at home and wanted to stretch their legs at the only place they are still allowed to go...

Venturing out for essentials...and they come out with a tv. Yup...that's essential. lol Especially if you're a teenager.
Some states are still locked down and yet Florida has opened their beaches back up and people flocked there. Since there has been nothing consistent about this whole situation, it will keep going on for a while and I think a lot of people will just try to get back to a "normal" type of life in spite of the virus still being out there and affecting people.
How long, really, can you keep the population of a state locked down? Something like this never goes away, at least not until a vaccine comes... and even then, some people will not get the vaccine. I really do think we're going to have to just go back to as normal a life as possible, even with the virus out there, and just be careful.
