You're so vain....

I had a rough moment earlier today.

I look at myself in the mirror every day. While I LOOK at myself every day, I don't always SEE myself every day.

Today was one of those days that I had the chance to SEE myself.

I had blown my hair dry and was about to smooth out my bangs, like normal, when I noticed a grey hair in my bangs.

Then I noticed two.

Before I knew it, I had tears in my eyes and my heart was about to beat out of my chest.

I know, sounds pretty dramatic, it's not like these are the first gray hairs to grace my head..... They are, however, the first few to sprout where people can actually see them.

I've always been one of those women who planned on growing old gracefully.

Dye my hair?! Pshaw!!

I earned those grays!

It's become completely apparent to me, though, that I don't THINK I can be one of those women. It BOTHERS me to see my beautiful hair color slipping away and I know that it's unique enough that I don't think it can be recreated by a colorist.

For now, I guess I grin and bare it.

At least I still look young. Most people think I'm about 10 years younger than I am.

I can remember staring in awe at this beautiful roan stallion,God he must of been 16 hands high what a runner he was to.
There 's nothing wrong with owning a gray mare. What it was doing in the bathroom with you seems a little odd.If you do it often, sure ,someone is going to see it and think the same thing.
Ooooops!!!!PUHLEEEZZZE!

Using more than all the road!

My first grey hair showed up when I was 13 ... by the time I was 20 it had a few friends. I didn't mind them by then. Now, at 48, I have a lot of grey in the front and a bit of original dark brown mixed in everywhere else for a salt and pepper look. For fun last year, I bought 4 pots of Manic Panic coloring, and when I feel like it, I have a rainbow of color in my bangs. I have royal blue to match my scrubs, purple, hot pink and bubblegum pink. I get a great reaction from everyone everywhere I go. Age is only a number So ...relax and enjoy them greys!!!!

I got my first gray hair, that I noticed, when I was 33 years old. On my birthday, I looked in the mirror and there it was a single hair standing straight up. "Pluck"

Just out of curiosity, what is your natural hair colour? I can't read profiles

Oh, I pulled those bad boys as soon as I saw them. My greys are actually coming in white. My hair is kind of multi toned, lots of red and brown. In the sun it's red, which is the part I like most.

I look at myself in the mirror every day too. Then I turn away and put my glasses on.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I had one of those moments today. But it wasn't the gray. I celebrate those.

I have a faint birthmark above my eye. I was looking at the other side, then looked over. Yep. My hairline used to be much closer to that mark.

No time to cry about it though. I had been using the rear-view mirror while stopped at a light. .. Had to get moving again.

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

That is a rough moment... Guys are just as sensitive about hair loss as women are to gray. I feel your pain.

no one goes out their original color , you fool no one when you color it after 45 or so .and hair dye causes cancer and auto immune disorders. please women stop crippling yourselves for nothing , your soul is what is valuable and beautiful ,not dead keratin in a 5 wrapped around 2 array of fibres. ever seen lauren hutton ? 72 gray and sooo frickin hot

"no one goes out their original color" I like that! Aside from my teenage years when I used to frost my hair all the time, I've never really been the type of person who colored my hair. It was always long, and way to much upkeep to add color to the mix.

I feel that it a personal opinion, my youngest sister started getting gray hairs in her thirties so she "frosted" it. If it upsets u, fix it!

It's not the hair, per say, that bothers me. I think it's what it indicates, that bothers me. Getting older... Mortality....

I love gray on a woman! All my blonde/auburn turned years ago, now I'm left with gray and brown.

I know I've been blessed with good genes, it must be the Irish in me. My best friend, who I've known since 7th grade, has been salt & pepper for years, she's actually started highlighting her hair to blend it all. It's just, when I see those grey hairs, I see my mortality.
