Dare to Know Me Exploding stars into the atmosphere Illusions of catastrophe interfere Washes the canvas into pain and fear Weakness intervenes causing pain and tears Wipe clean the slate of a bleeding heart Swipe my card of disregard Banish tears that struggle with strength Don’t judge the time within the length Struggles come and struggles go This doesn’t mean I have to show The rot, the rhythm, the dysfunction Of the soul that knows no malfunction Be myself is all I can be Bi-polar, depressed, and even ADHD So, snap me into what seems real To feel the normal, what is the deal? Extreme and chaos invade my mind Drifting in what it means to find Battling into what feels like insanity I long to find a cup of tranquility Reaping into the soul of happiness Sloth into the depths of sadness Battles are thrown at me from every side! writing to me is an outlet that is needed... since being abandoned, the feeling of who i am, what i mean to this world, absorbs into my being. The pain i feel for being left adrift is deep...but not unbearable. i have been in chaos for a long time, however, i have learned and i am growing. To write is to express and to purge the feeling of insecurity, doubt and any negative feelings i have, so i may continue my journey. Abby Rose is my trans-gender niece that supports me and continues to love me through it all. She has seen first hand my desperation of breathing in life in all ways and grasping understanding and compassion i wish to have for others. So, please, when you read this poem, know it is about me, who i am, excepting that no matter what challenges i face i will face them with strength.
