Biological vs. Chronological age

My greatest pet peeve with sites like this is that they force a person to display their chronological age / date of birth. Science has demonstrated that aging is a mental process rather than a biological one. Most people's Chronological Age is different from their Biological Age, which reflects their physical appearance and abilities. The one study on this that sticks in my mind is one from several years ago. A group of people who had been teenagers in the 50's were selected for the experiment. They were placed in an authentic 50's era diner. Everything was as it was in the 50's jukebox, fixtures, cars, etc. down to the last detail. The people were told to place themselves back into this 50's setting, not pretending they were in the 50's, but placing themselves back in that time period for the duration of the experiment. All of the participants were examined before and after to determine their physical condition. It was found that this group showed a reversal of most of the typical markers of aging at the conclusion of the experiment. Once the participants returned to their regular life, all of the indicators of aging returned to the state they were in previous to the experiment. The bottom line is that people tend to reflect physically who/what they truly believe they are. I, for one, have understood this for a long time and have chosen to take full advantage of it.
