Friends with Benefits (FWB)

It is amusing that whenever I mentioned "Friends with Benefits (FWB )", majority of the guys here will get jumpy on that terms hahaha The first thing that comes in their mind, the benefits are related to MONETARY. It also gives me an impression that you are a cheapskate

Let me see if the meaning of my friends with benefits is aligned with other members in here. Friends with benefits obviously mean you were friends first, right? Friends with benefits usually begins when two friends, close or not, either have a random, drunk hookup or just start a mutual flirtation that builds into hooking up. The main point here is that we were friends first. We both have things in common, we hang out casually outside of the bedroom and we know at least a moderate amount about each other.

To put it into perspective, friends with benefits will ask you how your day was, knows when your birthday is, how many siblings you have, and your biggest pet peeve.

We became friends for a reason, whether it’s the personality, the sense of humor, or the amount of things we have in common. In other words, there’s some platonic connection there.

But friends with benefits not mean exclusivity.

We called a relationship that related to monetary as an ESCORT/PROFESSIONAL SERVICE/MISTRESS//any other similar names you want to put it in, but NOT friends with benefits.

Who else has a similar understanding as me when comes to friends with benefits meaning?

Your definition of FWB is in fact the correct one.

However, I believe that it has been hijacked by so many seeking monetary reward, that it has now become synonomous with paid service

It's a crying shame, but I guess that's why you see so many ladies that have resorted to putting "I AM NOT A HOOKER" i at the beggining of their profiles.

That's a trickier one - I have essentially the same definition as you do, and I don't like the more modern usage that is essentially prostitution - Senior Sizzle/Passion has made me leery of letters/messages asking if I am looking for FWB. (and a more recent and even sadder version is married couples, writing to ask if I'd like to have sex with the wife, for money)(as in me paying them)

Part of the problem is that, in general, people don't accept the concept - it is considered morally reprehensible (as well as condemned by religion) to have sex with friends without it being in terms of a progressive relationship, ideally leading towards marriage. We just don't have a term for it. They aren't dating partners, it isn't the same as lovers, and I find 'fuck buddies' to sound like the basis for all of it to be much more the fucking and the 'buddies' part is just to make it sound less crude.

I was very fortunate in college to have a mid-sized group of good friends who were a lot more fluid about this - there were good friendships, and fluidity (no pun!) on the sex end. Go out, meals, drinks, weekend trips, concerts, and then, if the mood strikes both people, why not head home together instead of separate and frustrated? Friends. with. Benefits. Easy-peasy!

Like masturbation, it still seems too taboo, even in this day and age and among otherwise intelligent people to accept. Sigh!
It is contrary to the norm and makes it difficult to be accepted by most people. Typical view of society - when a woman and a man are very close, they are supposed to end with a marriage.

Unfortunately, majority of the guys preferred 'fuck buddies (FB )' than FWB. Or they didn't understand what is FWB stands for Contact the lady when they are horny only Some even said "I have many 'normal' friends for outing/drinks". FWB not normal in person?

Lucky you to have FWBs in your life

Unfortunately FWB sometimes might elevate to serious relationship; might screwing up the relationship and make things getting awkward.

Thus opt for fuck buddy (FB ) then

FWB didn't involved money arrangement at all. As I mentioned, when its involved money arrangement upfront - you called it hooker, but I prefer to call them professional workers/escort
