Talking Trash

Sometimes just taking out the garbage can is a trip in it’s self. Living out side of town, Monday or Tuesday I usually load it up and head out to the local landfill, now I could drive on out to the highway and get it done in fifteen minutes but for some reason over the last five years I find myself taking a few dirt roads that take me by a couple state parks and small lakes. I guess stopping off there and picking up some trash is something to do.
A few mornings in the spring, I have to wait on ducks and geese pushing the young ones across the road, other days laughing as two muskrats are having a pissing match over territory rights. And if I’m really lucky a cow moose may be down on the far end chest deep with the most uneatable portion of weeds hanging from her chin. But as long as the calf is far enough off most of the time she at a safe distance.
Even a few campers left over from the weekend still in camp; maybe they’re on vacation, who knows that is their business. Most of the time avoiding them and stopping to pickup some trash left over, I know there is a man that works for the state that comes around every week, but after meeting him a few times and talking with him he has got a lot of parks to take care of, and leaning a hand sometimes give him a little more time to work at some I never make it too.
Well, for some reason one morning while slipping down through the camping sites picking up a few empty beer cans and other stuff. This man steps out of his fancy motor home all decked out a generator running comes walking over to where I was gathering my stuff. I guess he figured this was my job. Right off the bat I already know the type, going to strike up conservation about how this one bunch did this and the other bunch were doing that. .now I listen to him go off on the whole place,
First it was damn them , out here drinking and throwing their beer cans all over the place, should lock it up and run their asses out of here. My only thought and I never said nothing but here my thought was, “yes that is true but if they are here and not on the road, that a blessing, and if pulled over for an empty beer can in the back of their pickup they would go to jail and have more trouble then it worth, Hey, is that one I may have left here in the 70’s, no never drank that brand, oh well on to the next camp site.
But guess what, the man keeps on following me, have you know he not getting his hands dirty. Next thing I’m picking up a torn old rain slicker, and even find a baseball, and a couple of ’s toys of some kind. Then he starts in again. I’m sure damn glad these people left, it was a mess here. Couple with three or four running all over, you wouldn’t believe the place. He watches as I slip the baseball in my coat pocket and he steps back wondering what in hell I did that for. Well, he figures out by now I’m not really taking up arms in his displeasure of the park. .
Soon it coming clear I’m not into talking much, well if he would of asked what kind of fish were in the lake could have been a starter point for a interesting conversation, but that wasn’t happening . So after figuring out I really wasn’t into it, he walked on back to his motor home. And I returned to place the last of the garbage bags in the back of my pickup.
Well, as I took the baseball out of my coat pocket, I wondered if I would catch up with the boy that left it. Maybe in about fourteen days when they're aloud back into the campground I’ll see the young man playing catch and just drop it off back where he left it No use trying to explain life to someone that doesn’t see the real world as it is.

Sometime is it worth to know the whole story , or does it fall on deaf ears?????

That's so true, at least they weren't on the road, I like the way ya think my friend... often take the undertraveled scenic routes myself... I'd rather see the deer, the muskrats play rather than stare at someone else's bumper~
