Who has time to read profiles anymore?
Who has time to read profiles anymore? Like some people here I like to browse profiles and see what interesting people I may be able to find. If a profile pic catches my eye and there is an interesting personal description I am very likely to send a friend request their way. I recognize that an unsolicited friend request may be unwelcome so I usually accompany it with a short introductory message, basically encouraging them to check my profile out and if I seem like a nice person, perhaps my friend request should be accepted. At least, that's the way it should work... Instead many times I receive a notice that my friend request has been accepted (Yay, for me!). Then when I check out my friend list, they are no where to be found (What?). Best I can figure is they accept without reading my profile. Then they actually take the time to read it and find out, "OH MY GAWD! UNFRIEND-UNFRIEND-UNFRIEND!" I have no problem when a friend request is denied, because (duh) it's a request. I have a major problem when people blindly accept everything then think "Oh, Shit!!!". Take a few minutes and READ my profile. I put a fair amount of thought into what I wanted to say with it. It says an awful lot about me. It's also a bit long and I get that we all have short attention spans. That's why I mention my gender status as the very first thing. Is it really TL;DR to even get past the first sentence? REALLY? I lose about 10% of my friends in this fashion. I find it really strange! |

Seems like a lot of people don't read profiles here.

always take time to look at a profile of who is on and next to photo, some people do allow you to look at the whole profile

Yes, I should have acknowledged those who are not Gold Members and the fact that full profiles are often not available. Thanks to those who have pointed this out. It is this limited access that caused me to carefully plan what information about me is most important and where it should be placed. People have preferences and they have a right to those preferences. That's why I'll never get bent out of shape when someone reads that I'm trans and decides "You, know, not for me." But it feels kinda crappy when a friend request is accepted, then rescinded minutes later.

Erm, there is a 'T' option for gender. You may consider this designation to be in the past for you, but unforch it will stay with you forever as far as sexuality. I dunno, the T option may have appeared after you signed up?

Rats, I can't edit my response. Thanks, Obama! "it will stay with you forever as far as other people's sexual preferences.." The heart wants what it wants. Cheers, Lance
