I watched their show on the tele as a wee bairn. Always loved the intro song, and still do. They were America's answer to The Beatles.

I think Mickey Dolenz is the only one left now...

The only TV band that was worthy? Quite a few classics, even to this day. 🌹❤️

Then there was the Partridge Family... 😊

So windy here last night — half the city blew away. Later... 😎❗❗

RIP Mike. Of the 4 band members, you were the best. So sad that now there is only 1 left.

Yeah, sad, only one more monkey left. Hey, check out the tune that I posted on the other place. A lot of people have forgotten that group too. You won't be disapointed ! I wanna hear you play the drums to that one hun !! Looks simple but there are places to remember added beats. I love it and have it looped playing over and over. I wanna learn that blues lead that he is layin out on his SG...

I was slso big fan 'tho disappointed to find out later that they were 1 of the earliest manufactured boy bands who rarely played on those hit songs; Mike def made up for that with his hit Rio prving that he was quite a good tunesmith too, thanks for sharing Joy & more big warm horny hugs from London UK, Mark x

I've driven down Pleasant Valley road thousands of times and every time I think of the song that was written about it and the people there.

I saw a story about his passing where they talked about a taped performance he did lead to the idea of music videos and MTV. I know from a later “node” in his life where a birthday party led to formation of the band The Hellecasters in about the late 90’s. Even long after the Monkees, it seems like he got to do and be involved with the things that he enjoyed, so that’s not such a bad life. Be nice if we all could. RIP.

Only Monkee who didn't need to work. His mother (or grandmother) invented Liquid Paper, so he was independently wealthy.

Sorry to hear of his passing.

So sad to hear!
A a band that was just going to be a TV act, be like karaoke....LOL!
But they became a group, had the courage to tell their fans, Hey, We r real, we can do this!
Hey, hey, we're the monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.

I know the Monkees were more of a put together show band but I really liked their music. I got to see them at a festival about 20+ years ago and they had everyone singing along and having a good time. Even the youngsters who never knew them were having a good time and singing along.
