If a lady genuinely needs my assistance I'm only too happy to help. But if the distress is feigned I'll figure it out quickly and not be flattered. I'll never forget the time a local blogger asked me to come to her house and help her secure some duct work that had fallen. She DID genuinely need my help holding it in place, but once she started swinging the hammer my face must have shown my surprise. It just sounds like you are being judged my sexy friend when those guys say that you aren’t pretty or ladylike. Most women are strong and capable these days and don’t fall into the damsel in distress category. For me, I always get down and dirty and have learned to fix things on the job. Oh and I get down and dirty when I get naked outdoors. 😉 Funny women are incredibly sexy!

My boys and girls were taught the same. They can all cook, clean, do laundry, balance a checkbook, change a flat tire and change their oil. They can build fence, plant trees, manage livestock and train dogs to be good pets. I wanted my children to be self sufficient - way more capable than I was when I married

Joy I only 1/2 agree with you. What is wrong with a woman who looks nice and tries to take care of her appearance or can replace a sink faucet, bake a cake or solve a second order differential equation? Nothing of course and that's what I have taught my son to do. Please do not identify tasks that we feel are gender specific and apply them to one gender only. Wouldn't be great if we all had a lot of different skills and likes? Would this not make us all more independent?
