I'm really missing the soccer (football) over here. It's a shame that the non-professional teams have had to end the season early.
It's a possibility that the top two professional leagues will be continuing again in June?

Hello Joy!
I am a Nascar fan. No races in Michigan right now. NASCAR had a race Sunday at Darlington the first one for awhile. No people their to watch strange seeing the empty stands and cars racing. Race tomorrow evening and one Wednesday night. Seven races in 11 days for all 3 classes.

I am missing too a lot of stuff my wife and I used to take for granted in Silicon Valley but we are starting Phase two of reopening! Re-opening is going to cost us more than shutting the economy down!

BBQ chicken meal at my brother's place with the whole family in place.
Yep.... Really going to miss that. His daughter is a nurse - and he (they) don't want to take a chance. I get it! But sad...

I love the Cup races. It felt so good to watch the race at Darlington yesterday, it's like it reset my internal calendar. Today actually feels like Monday!

Missing the same thing I miss every weekend (day). Someone to spend it with. But we must all deal with the hand life gives us. Not a Nascar fan but I do miss a baseball game and camping. Have a wonderful weekend if possible.

So nice to be insane; no one asks you to explain.

Omg I worked on a track here in Georgia, it was awesome. Funny story, my daughter had her 8th bday there and her step dad let her drop the flag on a race.
We also placed her dad, my ex hubby in the face car at the beginning of a 100 lap races.
It was hilarious sitting there waving at him cause he was stuck in the car the whole race!! Paybacks are a bitch sometimes!!!

Hi Joy

Thanks for taking me further with this Memorial day post

it is a significant holiday remembering those who died in military service

at the same time, I like the family get togethers, with options

a baseball game, perhaps, my Rangers duking it out with the Blue Jays

hot dogs, apple pie, and rest and relaxation, with people

be safe!

hmm

People will be missing a lot of things this summer around here. The local amusement park that usually opens the week end before mother's day didn't, and they have no idea when or if they'll open this year. The AAA baseball team here in town has yet to set it's seasons schedule, and the ball park where they play that was slated to be refurbished didn't get done because of the shutdown. Work has started on that, but who knows when or if it'll be done? The fourth of July fire works have been postponed till September as well. Celebrate Erie, the Gears and Grub car event, Roar on the Shore Motorcycle event's have all been called off, as well as the annual Rib Fest. As for the beaches? With Memorial Day fast approaching no word is yet been given as to if the beaches will be open at all this year? Given that the beaches are a State Park it's highly doubtful they will be open for the start of summer.

With the bars still closed down you can't even get a drink in this town. It looks like it's turning out to be a very dull summer.

...the bores were lubed...
...the pistons were hot....
...it's time to get racing....
...show the girls what you've got...

....the green light was lit...
...the crowd roaring its cheer....
...so drive fast through the finish...
.... without any fear.....

...pop that cork of champagne... so symbolic.... lol....

    Quoting  :

I phrased that poorly: the Cup race was at Darlington. I wasn't. I watched it on TV. The stands were empty, no public allowed.

I was a nascar fan. I have do not follow it much anymore. There is no one specific reason why, death by a thousand cuts would be a good answer.
I miss live music.
My stress relief is my motorcycle, the government has not closed the roads so I can still get out and clear my mind

Well I have missed out on several gigs, a few of them I had tickets for, all my motor racing events, meeting a woman I have been chatting to online for a few weeks and going shopping for a guitar. I don't miss going to work or the traffic that used to pass my door everyday as I can now hear the birds singing.

Memorial Day is for the Tour of Somerville cycling races. It is advertised as the oldest bike race in the US. There would occasionally be Olympians, national teams and a pro once in a while. The most exciting part is always the all out sprint finish.

I would love to be at the finish for Tour de France stages. I learned to stay away from the the area near the finish line where there is usually a bunch sprint. Inevitably there are crashes, which I don't want to see.
