It is indeed at times like these we realise there are still good people on this planet. I have always like you found it hard to accept help from others. I have found myself humbled by the acts of kindness shown to me at this time and also by the selfless devotion to their duties of all those who care for us. I remember these words by Max Ehrmann.  GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. An act of kindness is always a good thing

Further on up the road, that old saying is true! That song rings a bell here and it can either be good or bad, it can be hard to except others kindness, some of us were brought up to always refuse but I think that karma is what we make it after all.

That's a great person and neighbor Perhaps surprise her and leave her a bottle of wine at her doorstep (if she likes wine).

This is what its all about - helping someone, being kind, respecting each other. Simple things that get lost in the daily grind of life. Times like these all too many fall into every person for themselves, yet the truly strong can take care of themselves yet help others who may be struggling. Yes, I make sure my family has enough food/comfort items but I dont over stock knowing some things are scarce.
