Never been on a discount airline before.

I have flown one or two, but found the same experience that you did. Down here, I usually fly SouthWest ...no hidden fees and the tickets are usually still cheaper. But over the last two years, it seems like every flight is delayed.

I hate flying these days.

You have zero chance of convincing me that you slept 7 hours each night you were away LOL
I hunt for reasonable airfare and since Maine doesnt have Hub connections I frequently opt to fly out of Boston. Means a two hour drive but the savings make it worth it. No Flair for me

Back in the 80s I used Southwest Airlines while they were relatively new. Peanuts were free, but I remember it being like flying in a city bus with wings.

Welcome home my friend. Nice pics. I drive to my destinations and seldom fly anywhere. Happy Monday.

Haven't flown in years and that was only a domestic flight with a "low cost" carrier. It's all changed since then though with charges for this and that, such as printed tickets. But it has kick-started flights for nearly everyone.

We have our own version of Flair in the UK - Ryanair. They are the subject of many jokes and the go-to company if you want to connote additional unexpected charges.

Cabin Crew: Would you like a coffee, sir?
Passenger: Yes please.
CC: That'll be 3 Euros
Passenger: OK, thanks.
CC: Oh, you didn't bring your own cup? That'll be 5 Euro extra then.

Everyone jokes about it, but should a Ryanair plane drop in altitude suddenly due to a loss of cabin pressure, be sure to have your credit card handy to swipe before the oxygen masks will work.

Welcome back.

Good airline tip! It would always say good on the flight is when we land on land safely and quietly!

Nope, I've never flown on a discount air airline. Actually I've never flown on an airplane at all. Something for my bucket list I guess?

Glad you made it home safe and sound my friend wow that airline sounds like a real rip off I hope you don't use that one again. I think it would of just been cheaper to take West Jet with all the extra charges the Flair one costs.

I hope you don't work to hard and I hope you have a great start to your week..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

I'm shocked and surprised that you have never heard that discount airlines are discounted for a reason - they charge you for absolutely everything. Where have you been, that you didn't already know this?

On the other hand - how fortunate you were to discover this on a relatively short flight - and that you weren't going across the country to BC.

Welcome Home.

I will be flying a discount air line this month and they do hit one with a variety of charges...extra leg room charge, seat choice charge, first on boarding charge, luggage charge, carry on charge. did not see any offers of drinks or snacks..yep it gets expensive. You start out "Wow!" and by the time your done with all the extras your like , "oh my and no wow". I have not flown commercial in a long time. like 30 some years. Got lucky that last flight ,,asked if I wanted to fly first class no extra charge...drinks and service! oh my! I looked at a couple of non-discount airlines ,,they had some of the same charges. Balcony cheap seats are in the back of the plane...noisy! but maybe the safe seats when the plane crashes. LOL

Hi Joy.

thanks for taking me further...

glad that you are back...

yes... I've travelled discount airlines before, and I always regret it...

so, I try to book flights in advance, on the least busy times & days to save money...

reminded me of this one...

Journey - "Nickel and Dime"

Mountain of mystery, rising high above the clouds
Mountain of magic, standing tall and proud
Your magical veins flowing silver and gold
Your cumulus cloud glows misty red
As Apollo sets beyond your head
Releasing the pressure built over the years
The mountain is crying hot lava tears
Molten rock created under
Vibrations of subterranean thunder
Ejecting boulders like pieces of sand
The mountain is giving birth to the land
Under your feet, you feel a rumble
As thousands of rocks are starting to tumble
Above the trees where the buzzard flies
Swirling vapors begin to rise
Beneath those misty peaks you hide
A tremendous force boiling deep inside...

It isnt just discount airlines that do this, some of the worlds biggest and supposedly best do it too. And for the BBW flyer (note, they rarely do this to BBM) they charge you for a 2nd seat, OR, wait till you are on the plane, and then embarrass you infront of all the other passengers and shame you into buying an additional seat ! Afrer seeing how people were treated on flights to and from St Croi a few years back, and this was a MAJOR airline, I quit flying totally. If I cant drive there, or go by train or boat, I am not going !
