Talking About Affection A Poem

He said he would like
An affectionate woman
But one that was also
Not too smothering.
You know the type
Who has to always
Have their hand
On their boyfriend?

I said I got what he meant.
I was not the kind
To do that.
I consider myself affectionate
But not overzealous
I don't need
Public displays of affection
I reserve my hands
For alone time
For the most part.
Although holding hands
Does sometimes just feel right.

So perhaps that is the key?
Affection that is right
For the occasion
You know that saying
Timing is everything?
Well here is when it fits.
Hold hands and make
Slight gestures
Whether light kisses
And touches
It might be an element
Of foreplay
Or it could be an end itself
If there is no further action.

But not too much when on a date.
I like to tease and to touch for fun.
Intimate bedroom bonding is great.
