The Role He Likes To Play. A Poem

I think he could be
An awesome boyfriend
Or at least he
Has the potential
As he is kind
And considerate.
He is cuddly like
A teddy bear.
He has always
Acted like a gentleman
Except on the rare occasion
When we have had
Some sexual banter.

Here is the niggling part
He has a kinky side.
It's dark and a game
I dare not play.
You see he likes
To be thought of
As a Daddy.
He attracts young women
Who want him
To take care of them.
It strokes his ego
To have their attention.
They are mutually
Using each other.
When one leaves
Or gets bored
Or goes on to
Larger fish
He shakes it off
With a laugh
As he knows
Another damsel
Seeking a Daddy
Will come along
Another young thing
To take up
The mutually using theme.

How can I compete?
I am middle aged
I have the damsel part
Of the equation
In some regard
But I am lacking
In the looks department.

We have not discussed
My thoughts on his predilection
How does one broach
Such a subject?

Is he happy being used
By young women?
He obviously gets something
From his Daddy role.
Men will applaud
His being a magnet
To have young
Women around
Like Hugh Hefner.

This screams of needing
A psychologist.
I am glad I have
The presence of mind
To see the pattern
And steer clear of it.
Best to just
Stay a friend
And acquaintance
Not to fall
For his charm
For that could cause harm.
Not to him
He has very thick skin
That has long since
Come between him
And being authentic.

Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely
