Touching With A Poem

I wrote this poem 3 years ago. Let me know if you can relate to it...

You never know who will touch your soul,
You never can tell
When someone will reach within
And caress your heart,

It could be with a look
It could be a deed or action
It could be that a kind word was spoken.
But it all revolves around an interaction.

Do not close yourself off from the world
Just take a break now and again if you can,
For you might miss out on this touching
On this caressing of your spirit.
And it would be a shame to miss it.

I was prompted to write about this,
From someone mentioning my Mom's on-line obituary,
And what I had written,
He made me look at my words again
He made me feel and relive some moments.

It is almost as if I cannot write a poem
It might better be said in a blog,
But like I said of the touching and caressing,
My soul and my heart were reawakened.
And I wanted to share this with the world.

Not all poetry is going to flow,
It may meander from its intended purpose
Is that not like life itself?
Paths become divergent.

You know what word now comes to mind
It is of course the word journey
You have been on a short one with me
As you read this poem
And I thank you for the companionship
I thank you for listening
I hope someday you can share thoughts
Like I am doing
With a stranger or an acquaintance.
Just to touch and caress another;s soul and spirit.

Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely

To touch and caress anothers' soul and spirit. What a wonderful way to end such a heartfelt poem. Very moving.
