The Final Decision A Poem

Always crying
Are you the wolf
Of my imagination
Or the real thing?
It is coming
To fruition
The final decision.

I know I wanted you
But it was really
Just a pipe dream.
How can I have
Someone so put together
When I am nowhere
Near that description?

You had patience
You gave me a reprieve
More than once.
I gave you reasons
And you offered
Encouragement
But to me
They sounded
Like empty words.

There is a feeling
In my stomach
Like a punch
That did not make
Me keel over
In pain but
It was close.

I dug the ditch
That became the moat
My castle
A fortress
Impenetrable.
I did it with
Barely any
Of your help.
Yes I did it
All by myself.

I don't blame you
For walking the other way
It was the expected outcome
That I put into play
Way back when
I first gave you
The first of many
No decisions.
Now the final one
Is being done
It is all now in your hands.
