Time

While reading/commenting on another blog post from yesterday I remembered something I've wanted to discuss to see if it's just me or if I am correct in my summations...

Time flies...or does it?

When we were didn't we always look forward to our birthday... Christmas.... HALLOWEEN (Halloween, BTW, is my favorite holiday because there's nothing like the look on a little face when they bite into a caramel covered onion ) the Fourth of July!!! etc. etc. etc.

I can vividly remember how anxious we'd get upon the approach of Halloween... all the scary stuff, all the candy, decorations etc. THEN we'd look forward to Thanksgiving and all relative involvement (meaning family members as well as things coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday) including the 4 day weekend

As the Thanksgiving holiday got closer there would be some talk of Christmas and after turkey day THEN we'd get all into Christmas and it would always seem like FOREVER 'til Christmas morning, right? Then right after Christmas comes NYE!!!!

But as we get older doesn't it seem like things come and go much quicker than when we were ? Sometimes the anxiety isn't for the holiday itself but for the damn nonsense that goes with it to be over The hassles of it all

Then we get to a point where we probably have said at least once..."Didn't we JUST DO that??" Or maybe... "What, THIS again??"

After contemplating all this one time many years ago I came to the conclusion the more we go through time the quicker it comes and goes. Why? Because we've done it all over and over and over and over and over and over and over The novelty of things we experience from our childhood wears off and there isn't as much excitement for things compared to our childhood years.

We have been there and done that many many times previously, we know what to expect and we know how things are going to unfold based on the many times you have already gone through it. Not a pleasant thought, I know. The excitement disappears as the hassles and frustrations take over.

I call it the BFD syndrome

Everyone is on a different plane of intelligence. Some people's plane has not taken off yet!!

True story....sad isn't it?

WITHOUT PASSION LIFE IS NOTHING

DAMN woman I hit enter and you've read and commented already

Yes, it is a bit sad. What amazes me most about this is the people who always seem to have the holiday cheer, as if they were still a little kid inside

my holiday cheers ended kinda early for me so I pay them no mind now and have been like that for a couple of decades now. It is cool tho that I have a grandson so I can live vicariously through him if I so choose.

Please, just call me diggy.

Hello It ain't, thanks for stopping by!!

Sorry to hear about losing your enthusiasm early, I hope it was nothing too tragic But I am very happy to hear you get to spend some real good quality time with your grandson...spoil him rotten

The holiday cheers......grrrrrrrrr....it gets on my nerves badly!!

WITHOUT PASSION LIFE IS NOTHING

LOL @ "fast that way"

The only "holiday cheer" I hate is Christmas. I know that sounds bad (just call me Grinch ) but when it starts the first weekend of October...

It's too commercialized anymore not to mention lining up on turkey day to be the first inside to buy shit....buy buy buy, buy it all now hurry up and buy it all!!! Then getting into fights with people over stuff or getting robbed outside the store, getting trampled on the way IN... nah, I'll pass.

' BFD syndrome' ... is that anything like 'SPS' - Souplatation syndrome ? Meaning I ate too much at Souplatation and I have a serious tummy ache.

Do you have any Primal Urges ... I do, please CUMHANDLEME and explore some of my naughty and nice Primal ... Urges with me !!!

LOL, noooooo, completely different! Next time I would suggest taking a short break towards the end of your meal and let your food settle. People tend to eat to fast and usually end up eating way too much. Taking time to let your food settle will let your body realize it's full and you'll stop adding to the agony

I still love Christmas, even more so if both of my kids can spend it with me.

I buy early so don't have to go to the shops for at least two weeks before. I start buying gifts straight after Christmas so I've got a head start, never have enough money leading up to it.

For many years now, I buy both boy and girls toys to leave at the shops listed that give them to charities. I'm always struggling to make ends meet, but I can't help thinking of those that have even less than me, another reason for knitting beanies for the homeless.

I like Callmex's idea - revive your rock band Or at least rescue your drum set from the confines of storage.

Let your soul live.

My theory on "time going faster"... it's all work work work and no summer vacations. Too many chores and bills and all that, so you can't just ENJOY.

I'm trying to work on that... get my apartment to "self managing" mode and then get outdoors EVERY single chance I get. Hiking in the mountains, riding my bike, picnic in the park. Sit on a bench drumming... heck, I'll toss a hat out, maybe I'll get rich haha.

I wouldn't even know how to get in tough with those guys again and like I replied to call, that was long ago in a land far far away

If I had a place to play I would have set up my drums ASAP but that is not an option at this time

I agree with your theory, very true!

Enjoy your time outdoors and drum a little for me okay?

    Quoting  :

Aww! That's sweet

I was listening online to basic belly dancing rhythms... I've decided there's no WAY (at least not in a week). But ... I can make lots of noise in a semblance of rhythm all of my own making and have fun. The belly dancers that will be out this weekend have been doing it far more years than I've been drumming - they can improvise haha.

I think Kitten's on to something. We get busy and don't have time to let our imaginations work the way we do when we're kids. Time does fly when you're busy and don't have much of it.

I think that sums up my point quite nicely, thanks kzoo!!

Might I be suggesting we take time during each day to act childish?

Nooooooooooooooooooo not at all
