Shadowed serenade
Shadowed serenade Late on the beach I heard the lake invite To swim into its soft embrace once more. Upon the waves I bounced with such delight That pebbles danced their way back to the shore. The lake swept me atop, upon its crests, Though I sensed anger deep within its roar. With such indifference it snubbed my caress By whirling me wildly, high in the air. I sank so far beneath its callous-made breast, As if the lady of the lake approved our love affair. Eternally past bubbly bliss I rest At dusk and dawn while gulls fly up there. I lie in wait upon our throne of jade, Heart bleeding for swift-shadowed serenade. |
