Eagles Shall Soar Again

If y'all didn't know by now I am a rabid Eagles fan. I was born and raised in SoCal so they were a significant part of my musical preferences. With Glenn Frey gone (moment of silence please) . . . . . . . . . . Don Henley had at first said the most dreaded words possible - The Eagles will be no more. Yet, as any Eagles fan knows - Hell sure as Hell has frozen over once before. And now it will again.

The Eagles have officially found their replacement for the late Glenn Frey, it’s his Deacon. On Monday, The Eagles’ Don Henley announced on Dallas sports radio station KTCK that Deacon had signed on to play a number of shows with the band in July.

“There’s going to be an official announcement in a few days, but let’s just do it here,” Henley said. “Glenn’s Deacon is a very talented young man, and he seems to be up for the task. He’s enthusiastic about it and he’s been working real hard on it, and he’s gonna do it with us. and I think that’s appropriate.”

“There’s an old system both in Eastern and Western culture called the guild system, where the father is the master and the is the apprentice. The trade, the craft, the business is handed down from father to ,” Henley said.

“I think it’s the only appropriate way to carry on. I don’t think I’d do it otherwise. Since it’s Glenn’s blood, it’s his , I think that’s appropriate. There’ll be one more musician along for the ride too, but I’m not gonna say who that is.”

“It’s my responsibility to carry on this legacy and to keep these songs alive,” Henley said. “Apparently people still want to hear them. I thought we were done when Glenn passed away and I said as much, but I was in a state of shock at the time. But we have gotten a lot of messages from people all over the world from people who would like to see things continue.”

Of course.... commenting after the fact. It's a bit odd to see Deacon playing with the Eagles since he resembles his father SO MUCH back at that age. He will definitely be able to "hang" with the band with a little more practice.... God knows the shoes he's stepping into had decades of experience. He will get there I'm sure. Vince Gill was a total surprise for me... about as much as Glen's death. Having the Eagles as part of my life also growing up, his death shook me... and that's not an easy thing to admit.
Vince Gill was a big surprise for me too. Fry's passing was like losing a friend.

This is what I wrote when he passed Soundtrack Of My Life R I P Glenn Frey

I'm pleased the band are going to carry on. My favourite Eagles album is 'One of These Nights'.

For a second I thought you were talking about those Filthadelphia Eagles. This sounds good, I don't do concerts anymore, but maybe they'll make a video.
The concerts are supposed to be a big deal so I would imagine there will be a video. The Filthadelphia Eagles are just meh IMO - I'm a RAIDER baby!

Hopefully they will still sound the same but the fact that you know it's not the real band in it's entirety will put a damper on the magic. But that doesn't mean they wouldn't be well worth seeing.
Since this is Frey's son I imagine he is very familiar with the music. And Henley, who seems to be a perfectionist, seems to think it will be good . It would be worth seeing one way or another.

I wouldn't expect Glenn's son to be exactly like him. But if he has the talent, which Henley seems to think he has, it should be a great show. I would expect the interaction between the son and band members to be different since the kid hasn't been around them as long as Glenn was.

Whenever they were near where I lived I either didn't have the time or usually the money. So I am officially jealous

I'm open to suggestions as to what towns to pillage and plunder so I can score tickets to the Los Angeles show.
